Is there any point to resume learning drawing nowdays? I stopped drawing around two years ago, and was planning to pick it up again recently but with the rise of AI I don't know if there's any point to that anymore.
Sure it's not perfect yet, but it already outclasses a good chunk of artists, and so I fear to think how it'll evolve over next few years.
Is there any point to go back to drawing, other than possible joy of it?

Ai is actually shit. And will remain shit for a long while. If you only draw pinups, yeah it's a threat. But if you draw anything novel? Unique situations? Ai can't do it. Ai can't even do the image in op without already having an img to base on.

The quality of the generations is a very fragile reason, I mean, what if it gets better? I would say that the lack of control is still its greatest weakness and that can't be easily fixed without changing how it works.

It doesn't reason, so it will never understand a prompt like "an f22 fighter jet being shredded apart by winged tigers, Thier claws slicing the metal hull like butter, the pilot ejected but the parachute caught the tail of he jet and he is holding on for dear life."

Its shit at getting what you want, but if you know the right weights and have enough autism to spend week learning what buzzwords produce quality results, then it can produce decent looking pictures.

>>6384172
Idk, most normies are not fan of them, and in the near future it will basically become impossible to gain following unless you parasite off of some community. Normies generally don't like AI art because they also think automating something as soulful as art is dumb. Artists who already made it will continue making it because their fanbases wont just leave, and for professional artists the AI system so far is too unreliable and too generic, which I don't think will change any time soon. OpenAI made Dall-E at the beginning of 2021, almost 2 years ago and the results were already very good the moment they made the first model basically, so don't believe singularity schizos who claim this tech is advancing exponentially. For commercial artists to be able to be replaced by this you would need the tech to take in indepth descriptions, not just set of buzzwords, and then be able to translate the character into other settings and poses, which Dreambooth struggles with just single image, and good luck getting multiple images of the same character without already calibrated Dreambooth. Same with artstyles, it can mimic only certain artstyles, and other are basically just transfer of colors.

I am not an artist btw, but I think this tech will make it significantly harder for artists to get by, especially if your plans were to do smut or just some random pinups. I give it 1-3 years before it BTFOs artists who just draw random shit or popular shit, and for commercial artist I have no idea since it requires brand new kind of method to be invented that allows people to configure the picture better then just writing prompts, half of which the dipshit AI will ignore, and then sorting tough 100s of images to get a good one.

This argument about not learning to draw because of artificial intelligence is very silly.
Several people in the world already drew, and if that was not a problem then why would artificial intelligence be?

Idk, how likely was it that you were going to make money from art even before ai? The market was saturated long ago and clients have never respected art enough to want to spend money on commissions anyways. Ai will only saturate the market further, and if ai is streamlined for the average user, forget about people spending money on commissions or amateur projects/logos/etc.

Social media algorithms go out of their way to ghost your content uploads as it is, so unless you’ve acquired a fanbase prior to 2013, then you’ll be invisible forever. To be completely honest, if your goal is to do art for any reason other than the joy of process, then I have some sad news for you.

Personally from my experience, I’ve been an artist on social media, and freelance sites for over 6 years and I’ve not been able to break through to make much money or built a fanbase over 800 followers. I’ve tried many styles over the years, I’ve done comics, used various platforms, but all of the algorithms seem to be the same no matter what. With or without ai, you won’t be seen, you won’t sell, but you will be utterly demoralized by trying. You probably have better opportunities selling art locally rather than online but I haven’t bothered.

If you like art and it gives you joy, yeah go for it but it’s a long hard road to get to where you’re happy with what you make. If on the other hand you want other people to like your art or even see it, maybe save yourself the trouble and go play video games instead or have a family or something more fulfilling.

AI art feels soulless for some fucking reason also ai cant create nor execute correctly schizo ideas that only a man can create.
So yes, there is a good reason to learn drawing also dont you think that at certain point AI will be censored? what will you do when all the culture will be controlled? fap to a bland and ((politically correct)) porn? bullshit, better learn to draw

Everybody who says stuff like this, about how they worked for years and the system is keeping you down and it's impossible to get an audience now etc etc. is deluding themselves.

For real, everything doomposters like you post their work it is always terrible or obviously unappealing in some way and that's the real, uncomfortable reason your growth is poor. If you were good you'd have an audience. Stop blaming the 'algorythm' already, I've seen multiple people from /ic/ blow up big over the last couple years, it is totally possible.

Keep telling yourself that. It’s always survivorship bias for those few who get lucky and make it, and they always have a story to tell you about how they worked harder than everyone else to get where they are. Some do make it — maybe it’ll even be you! But probably not. Go ahead and tell op to waste years of his life sitting and toiling in isolation to learn a skill that has no real value beyond the joy it gives you in the moment, but don’t bullshit him about the reality of making it. You must still be a beg if you believe that shit still.

The fact that you believe ‘making it’ has anything to do with ‘muh skills’ pretty much confirms to me that you still live in begs fantasy land of “if you just work hard, you’ll make it!”. See the countless instagrams and twitters of top FZD grads if you would like to see the kind of follower numbers that raw skill and hard work will get you (spoiler it’s double maybe triple digits). Tumblr personality + woke signaling will get you further lol.

Everyone wants to believe that improvement and hard work will mean people will suddenly care about your art but it just isn’t true. I suggest you rid yourself of that delusion before you hurt yourself with it.

Yeah, no shit, thats true for literally every market out there. Making apps? Making games? Being Youtuber? Having a startup business? Yes, not everyone can succeed even if they are good at their job. Luck is a luck and always has been, just because early adaptors from 2000s had it easier because there was less competition and they could cultivate larger share of rapidly growing online market does not mean it is over now.
Sorry you didn't make it even though you art is not horrible, but the fact that other losers here who didn't make it don't blackpill everyone 24/7 probably means there is a hope at booming from nobody to somebody.

Now you’re projecting. OP asked a question and I gave my personal experience as an artist who’s gone through a lot of the isolating shit that most artists have to go through but never talk about. You just don’t like any answer that isn’t the fluffy feel good unhelpful shit that you can find on any proko stream shilling garbage beg drawing courses.

If you don’t like my perspective, then move on. Skills don’t sell. Personality sells. Being lucky sells. Popular political opinions sell. Marketing with deep pockets sells. Being good at something will never beat those things. I know you want to believe it but it will never be so. Not for artists anyway.
