I don't even give a shit about this, it's not like people have kept using Deviant ever since the UI got redisgned.
I never thought I was ever going to say this but Twitter will remain as the only true art platform. Pixiv, eHentai, most boorus and other sites are filled with spam and I can't recall the last time I haven't seen anything else other than deformed girls with tits in there.

Not going to pretend like I know anything about American law, but isn't this legitimate grounds for a Facebook-tier lawsuit? I know when you sign up for a website, you are beholden to their ToS which you agree to. However, this is something entirely new that you are automatically opted into. Again, you agreed to their ToS, but copyright IS copyright, and you are still the legal owner of your shit unless your sign a legal contract relinquishing your rights.

I feel like this is similar to buying something off a website years ago, and then years later that company automatically signs you up for a monthly subscription service with your card on file. Which the FTC would absolutely love.

/g/ user here, you guys have to realize this is the best you are going to get: for AI art to be labeled and for the ability to opt out. It's over.
The alternative is that stable diffusion users keep training on your copyrighted work without your permission and upload it untagged.

This is a cope. While it's true that there are legal complications with training on copyrighted work, stable diffusion and the like give a lot of options for users to alter diffusion process and create intentionally guided works (e.g. in-painting, img2img, see pic related). The problem is that it can be used by any retard with a graphics card and doesn't require any skill. It is basically going to be accesable to anyone who knows how to use MS Paint.

Current AI is way too autonomous, in-painting and img2img are basically pointers so the AI can still do everything by itself.

To make it usable as an art tool instead of an art generator, it would need to act more like 3d softwares act to 3d artists, you not only need to make a base surface (the model, which can be enhanced by smoothing, sub-d, beveling), but also choose the exact textures, lights, pose, materials, etc.

Theres nothing A.I can do against shit taste tho, and anyone thinking random non artists can do something like a good comic without actually consciously engaging with art fundamentals is just wrong.
Even in the worst case scenario on which there truly is no place for human input other than curation in art the person that can do real art will have better taste and eye than the fa/g/ that can't even perceive form.
The narrative seems to be that the only reason people needed artists is for their physical work, but art directors barely if ever actually draw however they understand aesthetics and visuals in a way no random fa/g/got ever will.
I don't even care if they believe me or not, time will prove that being an artist is much deeper and complicated than simply their manual output, and anyone trying to engage with visual arts, even when given a magic button will have to engage with the same rules any artist does, and if they're to have any success in creating anything worth looking at, they're going to have to learn them and inevitably, draw, because if you can't draw it, it is because you can't perceive it, and thus whatever you do will always be held back by your ignorance.

>This is the same cope that artisans used against manufacturing automation
It literally is not, you can't read and you're a massive retarded faggot.
Mass production still requires designers to design the product that will be produced, that's something not any random faggot can do, a badly designed product with a pretty facade is still a badly designed product.
If anything the coping retards here are those that think that they will be able to create their great comics and gain massive influence and critical acclaim without knowing anything about art, how it is made and which are the rules that govern it.
You will literally never be an artist, you will always be artistically outperformed by those that care about the things you naively choose to dismiss because you've never actually attempted to create anything that can't be shieled from criticism by saying "just wait two more weeks it'll be really good!" "I can make thousands, just wait till I find the good one!"

Bandwidth costs are basically nothing unless you're extremely popular, your site is bloated as fuck or you're getting DDoSed (in which case cloudflare and others offer free services to basically mirror your website).
Main costs are a domain name (~$10/year) and hosting. I recommend nearlyfreespeech.net (freeBSD jail, $0.01/day) or amazon lightsail (linux vps, $3.50/month).

This is very backwards. In no way did any of us consent to opting in to begin with and they literally just rolled this out and changed their terms of service. Just because we upload an image on your website also does not mean we relinquish copyright. Like other anons have said, a lot of paperwork is involved in that.
Often times, half of us are drawing copyright characters on top of that. Imagine the messy legality of stealing someone's fanart of a popular series that an AI bro uses a copyrighted character fanart for his "originale comic". They actually have no grounds to do that, they're just very brazen and pretending like we can't do anything about it and throwing their arms up in the air when they're confronted.

I'm sort of like you, being a no social media presence artist. Ironically, I was paranoid for these exact reasons (I have read terms of service on these webites) and it's not exactly comforting to know not only was I right, but it's far worse than any of us thought.

I think the best course of action for people like us is to genuinely not post images online for at least a few months. These big name artists that have very publicly been stolen from need to form a class action lawsuit and take this to court. Only once we have legal grounds to protect ourselves should any of us go back to posting our images freely online again. There also needs to a royalty system per generated art image and opt in system (not opt out like they're trying) before AI "art" is remotely ethical to artists.

Alternatively, take an angled photograph of the picture you want to show your friends so any AI thieving tools can't hijack it as well. It might look like shit, but at least people can still sort of see your art.

Also, everyone needs to pay close attention to art programs that suddenly have AI generation tools built into the programs. I wonder if it's possible for said programs to steal your draftsmenship or record your process. This is huge war on digital art itself.

When uploading your art, keep the tags at the bare minimun, make it as hard as possible for machines to learn patterns from them. Also sprinkle some wrong tags in there to maximally confuse the machines, it will fuck with them for long, like bad genes spreading over generations.

When tagging the merc-wip for example, use minimalist abstract tags like
"soldier";"mercenary"
and put in some deceptive tags like
"landscape";"car";"red";"cal-arts" or some shit.

AI-ndians are lazy fucks, they just scrap huge amounts of pics with tags to train the machines, they won't even notice how hard we are fucking them.

It really depends. More distinct art styles have a somewhat easier time with training - Some anon over at /h/ was making consistent embeds with about 30 images a month or so ago, and that might as well be ancient times with how fast everything is going.
My own hypernetwork was fine with around 100 images, but some of it would often get overcooked and look like a deep fried jpeg. At 200ish it was almost perfect, and at 300 images it could consistently copy my artstyle.

That's like comparing the work of an architect who designs a house with the help of measuring devices to the customer who just describes the number of rooms and space he wants. I genuinely don't understand and the only explanation is that I'm being trolled. I'm more than willing to bet that an architect who's been at it for a long time wouldn't care. Art being your choice of hobby and art being my job for longer than most retards here have been alive is a very big difference.
I opened a Pixiv account a month or so ago and I've made a bit over 11k yen (about 80$ usd) this past week from fanbox alone, and I did not touch up a single image in that account.

You toolfags dont realize that the problem with AI art is that it is really easy to become professional, that it can mimic every artstyle in couple of months, and that you have little control over it.

Photography:
>Have to find irl good looking stuff to take photo of
>Professional photographer and retard normie takes different kinds of photos
>Only able to do hyperrealistic capture of reality at the moment

Ai art
>Basically anything you can describe with words
>Prompt engineers might have fun now, but there are already models that upgrade your prompt, analyzing what you wrote and then guessing what prompts will fit the best with it
>Right now you can still search for artefacts and for the generic NovelAI coloring, but it is already starting to pass the turing test on most of their images. As stated, it can mimic to some extent every artstyle, so it is not limited to one artstyle like photography is.
