6367012 No.6367012 [Reply] [Original]

As an artist, I think they should be making an AI program that empowers artists instead of trying to fully replace them. In the current AI programs the computer is the artist and you fully depend on it to get the results you want, this is ok for non-artists and generating random good looking images, but terrible for depicting precise concepts. The absolute lack of control is it's main flaw.

I imagine that this program would be an actual TOOL, giving full control to the artist, like controlling lighting, textures, line quality/styles, but still using a direct input from an artist.

No, img2img is just bullshit, it will basically make a poor rending if you decide to stick too close to your drawing or deviate too much from it if you want a better render.

Imagine an AI program that use it's learning abilities to understand the user's style and simply help refine it instead of doing everything by itself. That would give us FULL control over the art we're doing while also making it look or more unique and original.

Painting, for instance, could have 2 modes, full-auto and semi-auto. Full auto could work like in 3d rendering, you choose materials, textures, light sources, colors, bouce lights, etc, but let the render engine do it for you. Semi-auto could use some kind of smart brushes that could allow you to roughly paint, while the AI refine it for you, letting you choose from brush work styles, soft, hard or lost edges on the fly.

For those that hate artists and want them to die, you'd still have the current prompt/gacha style and if you ever wanted to get into art for real, you wouldn't need as much skill using this "artist oriented AI" too, so that would also be a great entering step to art.

Been trying to say that but these niggers refuse to believe how automated production lines already are. Digital art has always been a trap to erode motor skills and foster drag and drop mentality. Answer me this, do you prefere to have a machine does ALL the work for you or be the one in charge and make the human factor stand out in the final result?

I don't want AIs, but it's already here, if there's a way to stop it, count on me, otherwise, I still want to keep doing art for living and I need to use AI to stay competitive, at least make it in a way my artistic ability WILL directly impact and control the final result.

As we speak there are people on /g/ talking about how they are training the AI and have the general tell you everything you need to know on doing this and more. The only bottleneck is that even a 3090 can take a day or two to accomplish a a training session and not everyone has a 3090 or better. And nobody who isn't naive knows the interaction interface is not going to remain at prompts. That's never been the nature of electronic tech especially the internet.

/ic/ really needs to stop remaining in denial and figure out how to incorporate it or expand their art. Use it even to give art context once it's pumping out make your own video or story or whatever.

arent there already programs that turn your scribbles into assests and combine them into paintings/photos already?

the point of crafting anything, is that you have full control over it, replacing yourself with an AI, even if you "guide it" defeats the point

This is just a better option to the almost zero control and “let the computer do everything by itself” of the current AI. Prompting is nothing like doing art, it’s more like coding, now with an artistic approach AI, it would give more control to the user and feel way more intuitive.

Personally I hope AI is just a trend and people will forget its existence in the future, but if not, at least make it more manageable.

In 3d art the rendering is entirely done by the rendering engine, isn’t that what OP said that could be done? I don’t wouldn’t like to see this for 2d art, but the analogy is correct.

>> No.6368245

>>6368241
Wasn’t that the OP’s point? To integrate 100% manual inputs instead of prompts? I guess the idea is to make it work like a smarter line stabilization, AI enhanced brushes and filters (like an auto detect depth of field, motion blur, more efficient liquify, etc). All things we already have in digital art programs, just smarter.
