Where do you guys usually interact with other artists? I don’t care for building a big social media following but it would be nice to have a community of artists to interact with. How do I build these connections?

>> No.6364756

This is my community

>> No.6364764

Just you faggots.
I don't get along with normies.

4chan unironically

>> No.6364784

I used to use twitter and subsequent discords, but they were all ex tumblrs and I controlled my language too much. i seriously want to find a new community where I feel like I don't have to

How to build an art community with no pronoun people allowed?

>> No.6364825

Make one yourself.
Sjwoonies just want attention, that`s why we dont have any decent art communities. Normal artist`s kinda don`t bother with it.

I can’t find a place either. All discord’s are just filled with shills and nobody actually cares about critiquing art or anything they just want attention and to vent about bullshit.

Yes.

I'm tempted to make one but.. yeah I feel like that's all we're gonna see even if I were to gatekeep it

>> No.6364857

Yep, every discord in reality is just- local "friends" circlejerk. No one cares about art outside few real artist`s nowadays.

>> No.6364859

Make your own discord. Tell your followers or artist friends (if you have any) about it. Can't do it? Too bad because you won't get shit from /ic/.

Idk.
To create such community, there should be a lot of rules, something like DAD but much more strict.

Just like always, kinda.

While it sounds good in theory those communities with rules never last very long for obvious reasons. Don't bother.

I'm day drunk so I'll draft something up then
I've had some experience in a decent enough server and recently joined DAD.
I'm open to rule suggestions

>> No.6364945

>>6364892
1st rule should be- don`t turn it into your personal discussions/vent/namefagging bullshit. Something like this. Or else it wont be much of a art community.

>> No.6364950

>>6364945
venting and namefagging i will admit, I don't think will be useful but people are gonna shoot the shit, it won't be active otherwise

Yep.
No solution for this one then?

just ask them to keep the conversation relevant. comics, animations, video games, artists people like, talking shop.

Unironically get better at drawing. The better you are at drawing the more likely people are to take interest in you and start the conversation. Once you reach like the /int/ level people start to think you're cool and unironically see your potential, and once you reach pro or good enough to be one of those big 50k twitter follower guys you become kind of art chad. It sounds shallow but I think it's just how people are naturally wired

I just want a forum like the old conceptart.org, pre redesign, but with the image storage.
The art/education sub forum was incredible. So much knowledge dealt out by seasoned pros. No lengthy click baity videos, just image after image with explanations.
The sketchbook subforum was just beyond anything that ever was or will be.

And imagine getting pic related as your paint over.

>> No.6365082

Alright, let's get this shitshow going. All you gotta do is post art and accept the rules to get in.

There are various elements to take into consideration when attempting to create a good community (no matter if you're speaking of a forum, a discord server, ...).

The first thing that comes to mind is a precise purpose that brings people together that can't necessarily be found elsewhere. LAS/DAD have something like this going on and this is why it works for example. This "purpose" needs to be at the forefront, it needs to THE factor, otherwise any attempt at making a vague art community will just create some sort of small circejerk between people who happened to become friends and makes it harder for newcomers to join in the more time passes by.
But with a clear purpose, it creates equality between members regardless of seniority and rewards everyone for the time and effort they allocate into the community. Then from there the socializing and fun stuff naturally come along for those who want it.

People bitching about cliques is the most insecure bullshit. They're natural, they're inevitably going to happen, and they're not that hard to break into.

Honestly OP, if you could just fine like 2 or 3 friends to talk shop and art with, that’s more than enough. Anything else is too much of a distraction. It could just be me, but I feel like I can’t keep up with most discord groups nowadays.

Not been worth it since 2014.
I tried twitter/discord artists, they close themselves off into smaller and smaller exclusive private groups and can't tolerate even a jokingly conservative remark. I tried Japanese twitter artists, and besides language barrier they were great up until a drooling angl*id makes a callout post or uses their art without permission in a youtube video and suddenly the jap artists nuke their accounts. I tried a group of anons from 4chan, it turned into edgy and political repetitive faux-anime OC coom with a resident tranny.
The groups I hung out with back in 2011 or so remain the best people I'd ever had the privilege of drawing with. We all followed each other on deviantart and exchanged art for holidays. Drew in paint chats together and even though we didn't take art super seriously it gave us a reason to draw every day. No politics or fetishism whatsoever, disagreements rolled off people's backs, people sincerely wanted to know if you had a good day.
Had found something similar with the Japanese twitter users but they're too skittish and not being able to chat sucked.
I give up. It's clear that western society is mindfucked and can't function anymore.
