this information only pertains to artists who's livelihood is primarily dependent on twitter. with all the drama surrounding new subscription based features why is no one talking about how NSFW art accounts are getting "shadowbanned" like crazy right now? ESPECIALLY for anime. so even if you did pay for this shitty sub you're still getting pushed to the bottom algorithmically no matter what. even with my 12k followers i struggle to get enough commissions for the month to make ends meet. this isn't fair bros.

i'd say switch to pixiv or baraag but lets face it the hoard of normalfags and brain dead consumers are what we live on. i don't see myself making it another year in this.

I see a lot of fear mongering on Twitter, I assume primarily because a lot of artists are lefty retards.
Is there actually anything different now than there was before though? The people I see tweets from doesn't seem to be any different than it was before, just now I see every artist crying about a supposed shadow ban and losing all reach if they don't pay for a checkmark.

you are right, it is defined as something that doesn't actually exist, like telling people instead of finishing a hole with shovels, they have to use spoons because of the law.

The fake housing market makes actual homes overvalued by printing money to prop up the economy
the fake money means that all of the hard work anyone does is not ever actually rewarded
the fake economy means that long term gains are essentially impossible as your money can be taken directly from you for bad social credit (see paypal) or even just to pay welfare parasites,
fake regulations create an envioronment of beurocrats that overcharge both the contractors customers and the contractor
and fake auditing ensures that the construction worker was never allowed to build anything of value to most people anyway, and you're better off doing it yourself.

The currency may be a fiat currency but the economy it supports is very real. Everything in your home is probably acquired through it.
You can claim regulations and audits are fake but if you test that theory you will learn that the consequences of doing that are very real.

Having conspiracies about the workings of the world is fine and all but sometimes you got to take that reality check and realize that while these concepts may just be human constructs they are still very real as far as you and I are concerned.

furries can tell when you don't care about anthro art unless you're really skilled, in my opinion. Coming from a sales background going into art, it depends really upon your network, ability to build connections both IRL and online, and willingness to get yourself out and promote yourself. I found more success going more mainstream with some occasional pinups than I did with NSFW, partially due to my lack of passion for the latter, however the same principle applies. I've had the privilege of meeting some very talented artists with low follower counts, (like 500) who were able to network with major companies and build impressive resumes. One of which, who represents a reputed outsourcing studio, who I will have the pleasure of meeting with sometime after the holidays to discuss a job opportunity.

As for the sustainability of NSFW art, there are a few things to consider. The biggest is that, yes, there is a pending crackdown on NSFW content. It's not apocalyptic, but the signs I saw back three years ago when Tumblr banned it all outright seem to be coming to fruition. If your lewds are fairly safe, you won't have much to worry about too much in the long run. However, keep an eye on the payment processors themselves.

Visa took a massive L in it's lawsuit from a child and sex trafficking victim who's abuse was published on Pornhub (promoted by TrafficJunky), which they refused to take down. Among many other victims. Pornhub was forced to sever ties with their biggest source of ad revenue. Mastercard and Paypal are pressuring Pixiv to remove lolisho, gore, and beastiality content and crackdown on sales for such content. Paypal themselves just instituted a $2,500 in their terms of service for Acceptable Use Policy violations, with can be broadly used against NSFW as a whole, but will likely target harassers and more extreme content creators instead. And since crypto is highly unstable right now as a whole, that's something to be mindful of if you decide to go that route (since you're talking of baraag, I assume you are indeed taking that route).

I imagine Twitter will go a similar route down the line with Elon Musk's recently introduced Twitter Blue service. And I'm not sure if I stated this or if I was unclear, but the prediction came when I saw most of the pressure was coming from the app stores and payment processors. That it would continue to mount.

There is no reason for anyone living outside Japan to learn Japanese. Unless you are a protoweeb who need to watch anime in Japanese.

my guess is that you made your twitter much later than the other two platforms so you already had a fanbase there OR you make really niche porn that gets a following on both pixiv and devintart but is too weird for twitter audiences

Both these things are true my retarded friend. NSFW material had always to be be marked as such or you would get shadowbanned (as in people had to go to your profile to find any post of yours). The reason why they did that was so they don't accidentally let porn go viral. BUT when you mark material as sensitive all of your posts are automatically hidden and can't be viewed till you manually click on it which kills it in the algorithm. So yeah NSFW art was always deboosted on twitter. That's why most porn artist link to their patron or other site where they upload legit porn and only use twitter to promote their shit

nta, but is it even possible to make the perfect art website for people to post regular and nsfw art? It seems like the moment it gets traction it would be shut down either legally or from lack of funds.

Depends on where you host it. As for money: It is possible for porn sites to make money so I'm sure you could too.

I've recently started learning about web development and have been thinking about making something that people need. I'm nowhere close to being able to make it but I'll keep this in mind for when I'm at an intermediate level.
What functions and features would be good to implement? I'm thinking you'd need an option to filter out content based on subject matter, of course. A like and comment feature for engagement? Something similar to twitter, I guess.

If you want a store then look to how places like Patreon, IndieGogo, Kickstarter and similar does. Their entire business model is selling their user's products which often include comics. There are many new being developed all the time.

If you want art discussion then some of the best I've seen was the now deleted ConceptArt.org. Old style forum with no voting.

What most serious artists do is they make their own site to host and sell their own stuff and then they use established sites for promotion. Trying to build one site for everyone and everything art is going to be a steep mountain of work.

Why was ConceptArt deleted?

>they make their own site to host and sell their own stuff and then they use established sites for promotion
Well, in that case it sounds like we don't need a specific nsfw site after all. People who like your art can just go to the artist's website. My site wouldn't be able to give them the exposure they need to attract buyers.

Drama that caused a lot of the pros that were the backbone of the site to leave.

It was a place where people had threads documenting their progress and got advice from old time industrial pros. It was also a great place for networking. There were workshops and RL meet-ups. People went from zeros to heros and got solid careers just from that site.

There has never been something like that since and there probably couldn't be today as things have become too fragmented. A lot of sites have tried to become the new ConceptArt.org.

The reason Twitter works is because it's a normie site. An art site only reaches people who are interested in art. Twitter forces normies to interact and see content they wouldn't normally see (which is part of why it's such a successful social media platform) and that makes going viral and blowing up as an artist much easier than before.

>> No.6391056

>>6391048
That's a shame.

I see. It seems like normies are both the problem and the reason for success.

Twitter is losing its sjw userbase that never mattered to begin with. The simps will stay regardless.

Give the algo a bit to unfuck itself. Ive actually had a nice little growth of followers since the buyout. Not much small time but it's something I noticed.

If anything the dumbass artists leaving cause they got triggered are doing more harm to themselves than good.

Something like deviantarts gallery function, and a comic viewer with full sized images, back next buttons and page/chapter navigation would already put your art site above the rest. I wouldn't bother trying to copy twitter, as many sites tried and failed in rapid succession. The dopamine hits such as likes and comments can stay though. In terms of modern design and other stuff you can look at the the recently dead sheezy.art on archive.org. Site was incredibly popular from the start but died due to shityy management.

Also creator funding like >>6391042 mentioned. Interestingly all the western sites are barebones (just a blog to post a link, image or video and files). Fantia is probably the most advanced supporting backorder, coins and such with a better ui.

>> No.6391210

>>6391166
Okay, I'm taking notes. A mix between what sheezy.art was like with Fantia's advanced features. We need to be able to comfortably read comics and have a likes/comments system. Maybe a forum or a place for journal entries too.
You said that sheezy died because of shitty management. Do you know anything else about that? What mistakes would I need to avoid if I actually make it?

>The reason Twitter works is because it's a normie site
It's mostly that you can have your feed filled with fresh porn pics from different artists that you follow, along with IRL porn. Used to be you could have that with Tumblr but not anymore.

>You said that sheezy died because of shitty management. Do you know anything else about that?
As far as I know it was a one person project that started as an unofficial revival of sheezyart. Problem was they never had the rights to the name so there were legal/red flags from the start. Moderators were picked from discord so there was drama and I recall inconsistent policies with adult content. Keep in mind porn will be disallowed with payment processors like paypal where only larger companies are granted exceptions, so you'll need to seek alternatives that allow nsfw for higher fees.
Add to that, immense popularity of thousands of signups per day along with server costs and poor monetization (they used patreon and gave perks), creator platforms are more sustainable taking a cut from transactions.

>you'll need to seek alternatives that allow nsfw for higher fees.
Nsfw content really throws a wrench in the works, huh. I was looking around Fantia and even they seem to have a policy around it. If I were rich I could just fund everything myself but I'm not so I would need money (and probably advertisers) for the server costs.

Making the perfect art site might be impossible after all. But I still think this is a fun project idea. At the very least, I could make a site that has a great comic viewer and gallery. For now I should think small and work my way up. I mean, there's a reason all the other small art sites failed.

>> No.6392137

>>6391954
Yeah if anything, there's a lack of art sites with proper support for comic artists. Maybe it's to do with webtoons and similar taking over that corner. There's definitely room for success, a lot of it is luck but also proper management. Good luck with that future project anon.
