My jaw completely locks up at night and I can barely open it half an inch. Usually it immediately goes away in the morning, but recently the locking has been lasting longer and longer. Just today, my jaw was still locking and clicking in the evening. Should I go see a doctor, or will it go away on its own? It’s only the right side of my jaw that locks up btw, but that’s enough to prevent the whole jaw from opening.

reee help me!!!

O.K here's the thing. I don't know if you looked at the linked post or not but I guess I'll just ask it here. Just the case.

Pic related, top row is supposed represent the different "values" of cadmium red. The ones on the left are made by adding increasing amounts of black to cadmium red. In the video they called it shades.

The bottom row (left) is supposed to be desaturated versions of cadmium red by adding grey. In the video they called it tone.

In both the top and bottom row, the first two "shades" and the first two "tones" look similar right? I'm just wondering if desaturating and lowering the value is the same to an extent(I can sew that one row ends up fully black and the other fully grey by the end).

your top row isn't manipulating saturation or value only, it's manipulating both. That's why you're getting so confused. It starts desaturated on the left, gets saturated in the middle, then desaturates again towards the right. I don't know what the fuck is going on with the bottom row. It looks like it's changing hue, and that's fucking up your understanding too.

Saturation and Value are totally independent. Ignore buzzwords like "shades" or "tones" or "tinting". There's only saturation, value, and hue. (hue is the color, aka red, blue, green, etc.)

I pick A4 as the size of my canvas in Clip Studio Paint. At 100% the thing is bigger than my monitor. Like even though it says the width is 8 inches I measure it with my ruler and it’s well over a foot.

I'm just constantly having trouble finding the right size to draw digitally. For me, the point was when after I did my usual fanart of a small unpopular show that I've stuck to for years, I then did fanart for the first time of something that was way trendier and more popular. The increased likes and numbers on that popular post felt so empty because there was zero difference in my art skill. Fwiw, I'm not blaming anyone, it is what it is, popular things will produce numbers. But it sure helped to put things into perspective for me.
Idk if you post fanart or original stuff, but maybe do something completely unknown/different to watch the number of likes crash, and realise it's all meaningless numbers in the end.

Making it a habit first is a good idea. A lot of people here get stuck in the trap of only studying, so it's important to draw what you want to draw for fun. Around a 50:50 split of drawing for fun and studying is a good starting point. Adjust acordingly to how much you enjoy studying. Don't force too much studying if you don't enjoy it, find ways to make it more ejoyable by using subject matter you like so you can directly apply it yo your personal work, or reduce the time spent studying.

The prismacolors are often recommended. Depending on her preferences she might prefer Faber Castell goldfaber ones, they use a different binder so they are less waxy. $100-$150 sets are fine, the more expensive sets are a bit overkill. Professional grade paper or sketchbooks are good gifts too. Anything designed for colored pencils would be fine, but specific ones depend on personal preference. Male because I saw most female artists feminize the fuck out of them and while I saw some neat art pieces most of them were shotacon/sexualized when I clicked them.

I tried to sketch some faces but the faces are either little girls or manly men, help me.

Not all anatomy study is about drawing. You can learn about joints, learn all the muscle insertion points etc. See them simplified, understand how one side of the body influences the other when it moves, all that can then be applied to drawing a figure.

If I didn't have to worry about income, though, I think I would've appreciated this tech a lot more. The internet will continue to be flooded by AI images for the foreseeable future. The only real upside is that it will serve as a filter for those people who do not truly have a passion for creating art.

Don't see a vent thread or the social media thread so posting here.

Found pic related on twitter, started reading about what was going on. Apparently some dudes who are pretty decent artists have been masquerading as Asian women but are also groomers.
Obviously the grooming part is bad, I'm not refuting that by any means. My question is, why is pretending to be a girl for more traffic thing a bad thing? It's not rocket science, women get more traction on social media than men even on equal skill level, and especially women who aren't white in this day and age.
I've often thought about making works in my spare time and never uploading them, and making a completely separate account to upload on and masquerade as an Asian or Black girl too while measuring the amount of time it takes me to get from 0 to my number on my actual account. Guarantee it would take less than a quarter of the time. Shit seems like easy mode and as long as you're only talking about the art and shit and leave yourself as a person out of it I kinda don't see what the issue is, at least regarding the gender part. I guess the race could get dicey if you wanted to continue on that route but the gender thing still stands if you just say you're the same nationality you actually are. And don't entertain any direct messages to any capacity other than commissions, since that seems to be where these guys are fucking up.
Why do so many people seem to take issue with it? And also especially seeing as there's so many trans people in twitter art community as it stands? What's the difference?

child grooming is bad, just to reiterate, and I'm not advocating for anybody. I don't even know who these artists are but their stuff gets pushed to my feed sometimes.

CSP can do pixel based flood fill if I select the all layers option but the fill won't be updated if I edit the vector afterwards.

No, I just know that 4chan but especially /ic/ is really awful about cherry picking and wanted to have an actual conversation about the other shit because I find it to be such a weird thing for people to be mad about. But I also forgot that 4chan is full of reverse psychology and will focus on whatever the anon doesn't want to talk about so I guess that's on me. I don't actually care about the grooming thing either but I figured if I didn't say something then everyone would just double down on that and nothing else. Lose/lose that I just didn't pick out, I guess.
Anyways, I don't understand how this is somehow different than all the trans advocators and shit for art twitter. The gender bending and/or race bending for free clout is a topic that I've thought about a lot back when I cared about raw interaction numbers and now seeing people actually do it and have it work has my interest piqued in a lot of ways and I wanted to have a discussion about the pros and cons and shit like that. Not like I can start a thread on ground zero and talk about it on there especially while the subject is still so new and sore for people, for whatever reason.

For the record I don't step on eggshells over there because I don't post anything but art and don't interact with anything but art and memes but none of that is relevant. Which, I suppose in it's own way, is still walking on eggshells. The whole "not making a choice is still a choice" idiom. Groomed and/or dying children and Ukraine aren't my problem either.

Rarely any artist would have a problem with drawing character sheets, the only thing that would turn them off is that you don't have a concrete reference of your OC (but that's usually due to the customer often wanting revisions and other hassles.)
Just try to draw him/her to the best of your ability or photobash it, then ask the artist if they're willing to make a sheet for you with [image attached].

What's a good free 3D modeling program for creating references, and is there any free AI programs that can put out readable poses and compositions? Actual detail for the AI thing doesn't matter. I'm asking these totally unironically.
I can draw at a level I'm happy with, but basically can't visual for shit so I spend HOURS doing thumbnails trying to get a sketch I think would turn out a good result, which fucking sucks because I only have like 4 hours a day on weekdays to draw. If I do a painting I probably spend half my total time working on a piece just doing thumbnails from scratch scribbling random shapes until something looks good. I don't plan on painting over shit directly because that would hinder my work too much I think to the point it becomes soulless, but I really need better reference tools than just google images. In his ellipses lectures, he mentions a trick to translate information from a circle into an ellipse in perspective, he does a cube into 2pp like in pic related, then projects a circle right next to it and does the whole right angle translation. But what I have a doubt with is not that, but that ellipse on the top, he says that the ellipse is in 1pp, which I am curious if it's like this because he decided so or because it really would turn out like that, I understand the vertical lines go into 1pp while the other 2 pairs go to each vanishing point respectively. I'm assuming the axle is the one that goes vertical in 1pp and that's all I need to make the crosshair, which makes it look like his flattened ellipse, if that's the case then ok. But I have another question: How do you translate information from a circle into that ellipse? I don't know if he goes through that later on the course but so far this has me confused.
And the final question with bottom image in pic related, he does a sphere and uses an equator line to translate that information from a circle from a top down view, and the line is curved, for the longitude lines, he does a flat line, I don't understand that, why it's not curved like the other? Did he make a mistake or I'm not getting it? I think I have more questions but these are the ones I'm stuck with atm.

Just trying to understand a dumb landmark I can't get my head around. On most models which rib a part of the thoracic arch sticks out at the beginning of the front plane. Is it the tenth rib that seems far too high, it appears to be the eighth rib but I'm just really not sure and it constantly fucks with me because I don't know how long to make the rib cage, other than knowing it should end four to five finger widths from the illiac spine.

Thanks.

how in the heck do I find references, particularly for the lewder poses? I mean, sure, there's google and the internet is full of naked chicks, but there has to be a more efficient way than endlessly scraping whatever the internet is throwing your way at the moment, right? like maybe there are books or catalogs of poses, and if there are, how do I search for those?

>I understand the vertical lines go into 1pp
the verticals aren't in one point perspective, they're parallel to the picture plane so there's no vanishing point involved.

Anyway, the whole idea of translating things into perspective is that
1.) in perspective we can draw straight lines between two points(or between point and vp).
2.) in perspective we can make new points where lines intersect
3.) we can draw whatever we want when it's flat to the viewer.
so
>the square with the circle and the horizontal lines, it's all parallel to the picture plane so there's no perspective and you can do whatever you want.
>the vertical of the box is also out of perspective, so we can make it the side of the square, and make marks on it as we see fit.
>we can take the marks on the vertical and connect them to the boxes' vanishing points to get lines that are on the box itself in perspective
these lines will show height.
and I don't remember his demo off the top of my head, but it looks like he's drawing diagonals from the corners(which we can do in perspective per #1 above), to find the midpoint(#2), and drawing a vertical from the midpoint(#3) lets him find a new point on that height line(#2).
mechanicallly working out accurate points in perspective is just applying a couple legal moves over and over and over again until you get to the final point.

lmao i hadnt thought of that - i gravitate towards draw muscular men and hefty women - and yea looks like everything from 8th to 10th rib can be visible alongside the arch. Thanks anon.
