I am making ends meet with my commissions, I get a lot of them.
I wanna be able to draw for like 15 hours a day to get shit done. I do breaks here and there.
But after like 8 hours my thumb starts to hurt and looks like it is melted sideways.
How to combat that? How do you deal with that? Gloves or something else?

Overworking. Your body was not built for it.

Stretch GENTLY (if you do too much and you're not used to, you'll get injured, I did that and went out of commission for 2 months).
You can stretch when the day starts, then maybe every 2 hours should be enough, take those breaks to also eat, take a walk or just lie on the couch for a few minutes in silence.

Find ways to speed up your workflow. And instead of cramming in more work, just establish a daily quota that if you fill, you can stop for the day.

Use your mouse/keyboard instead of the pen for parts where drawing isn't necessary (typesetting, using filters, choosing colors, using gradients...)

That's about it. You can't push yourself past a certain physical limit.
Maybe you could learn how to draw with your other hand, and delegate easier parts of the drawing to it.

That's the secret. Majority of artists are jobless. Some of them might get an influx of money via industry job/commission but will soon dry off a month later.

Increase prices, get paid the same for 6 hours, rest your thumb the other two.

nta but there are plenty of jobs with flexible schedules. I work as a teacher and right now I'm working six hours weekly getting paid almost a minimum wage. It's comfy because I have plenty of time to program my video-game.

Dude, Japanese mangaka end up hospitalized for less. All that commission money will evaporate quick as fuck if you end up hospitalized. Either figure out a way to maximize the efficiency of your process, or take less commissions. Well, you should probably do the first regardless.. That's my recommendation.

8 hours is already a big accomplishment Anon, it's strenuous and you might not be able to maintain it forever, especially if you push yourself further.

I think you should look into raising your commission prices slowly instead and building your media presence. The more demand there is for you the more you can raise your price without losing your amount of customers. Once you're making enough money you can take time for personal projects if that's your wish as well
