I've come to realized the reason why Americans are just bad at it, is that it's mostly due to religion.

They're not really surrounded by masterpiece works at a young age. They're surrounded by shitty Disney artwork. If not, their religious life is hollow since being mostly prots that insist upon no icons, they're just surrounded by brick walls most of the time, with no artwork to meditate at.

Note, I say Americans specifically since once you move out into Europe and some Canadians, particularly countries with high Catholic/Orthodox art, e.g. France, they can practically draw on-par with Asians if they want to.

The advantage East Asians have is that they're writing system is pretty much drawing, so that's why they're good at it. If you actually remove an East Asian and strictly bring him or her up in a purely non-Asian American environment, they're going to be as bad as the rest.

true
south america has created some based and soulful artists but less well known internationally, and its one of the most religious parts of the world
coincidence? i think not
art is almost like a spiritual experience, dumb american materialists cant wrap their head around quantum mechanics let alone the soul of art

You have to imagine something that isn't there. When something isn't there in America, you call customer service.

Yup, French comics are better too. It helps being surrounded by history, multilingual, the greatest museums and art galleries in the world etc...

As an Asian, we were exposed to Disney shit as much as Americans, however, our mindset is different generally. We don't have strange childhood crush toward Disney furries and Cartoon Network stuff. We consider those things as kids cartoon for kids and should never even consider to follow such artstyle.

While anime style are quite popular around here, so are the professional artworks from Chinese artists. Art kids can never use anime-esque stuff to impress other kids and the teachers. they have to learn from the actual fundamental and draw with fundamental knowledges in order to be considered as "good".

However, which such taboo on non-standard art, many Asian artists tend to be quite rebellious. Either you meet rebellious anime-esque artist or rendermonkey when it comes to Asian.

tons of top tier industry-level artists flooded to twitter after seeing beeple make that huge sale

even though most of those artists are anti-nft at this point, the hype gave enough attention to digital art that most of them were able to build large enough audiences to make them stay. Also the hype made digital art became a staple "interest" in the twitter feed algorithm, so now you can get a lot of attention for posting art and having it be promoted to people with that interest on their feed (example: andree wallin's "sketch - final" post getting 1.3M likes)

The guy's figures are great, they've got this loose flowy feel to them, but... are his colours really bad? I'm finding it hard to focus anywhere on his work, like there's no focal point; despite his constant use of making everything dark and one area brighter. OP's image is one of the better examples of his work I saw though.
All that said, I'll still give him a follow.

Onto OP's question though, it is interesting that twitter became so popular for artists when its image gallery/post are so rubbish. I'm surprised all the artists haven't moved onto something else yet.

>>6213120
I think there is a sort of praise and worship for the more cartoony/abstract styles, and the more realistic classic styles have been left to the wayside. Not sure if it's really got anything to do with religion though. Richard Williams also has a quote about him bemoaning how art school lost their ability to adequately teach the fundamentals in order to appease snobby rich kids, so it might have something to do with that.
