ITT we post and discuss the biggest beg traps, if you are a beg you definitely want to see this

Theres tons of beg traps but one of the most memed on in this board and or any other plataform even in non art focused ones is.... JUST DRAW, jesus where do i begin with this, i could make an entire thread just off this one, but to keep it simple, just mindlessly drawing won't get you anywhere, you do need to draw to get gud duh, but the problem with doing it for the sake of it is what makes it useless, is your art goig to be exactly the same 10 years from now if you do this? no, but whatever progress you make is going to be so little that you would be better off just practicing boxes, and this brings me to the COPE excuse that comes along with just draw, that not everyone is an asian workhorse that draws 10h a day so you shouldn't worry if you are not progressing ''fast'', we all progress differently but theres tresholds that we should surpass and that requires putting effort and brains, just drawing doesn't have any of these.

"Just draw" is not advice people give to those who wish to learn how to draw well.
"Just draw" is what spurts motivation and keeps drawing fun and engaging, which is needed in the first place before you start tackling art course bootcamps explicitly designed to suck out all the fun in drawing.
Finding yourself and finding ways to enjoy drawing. It's the first thing you should do if you want to get into art.

Here are the traps I fell in when learning:
>using all the crutches like brush packs, photoshop tools like liquefy, zoom and so on, or in trad version smudging everything with your fingers, tracing...
>obsessing over details instead of the fundies, meaning polishing turds
>absurd expectations thinking you're special, which will only lead to disappointment
>avoiding critique
>getting critique from retards
>posting on /ic/

i think the scope or specificity of what you study regardless of what skill level you are is something that is overlooked. i'll use drawing hands as an example. i.e. you dont "just practice drawing hands", you follow a specific set of steps to get better at drawing at hands like using a specific set of resources and do it in a certain way. when i send people art advice/resources i send them diagrams that help with the particular objective thing they are struggling at and this is usually with human anatomy since it is the most challenging. i go through my folder of propic and taco images until i find the one they need and send it to them. if they dont get it, then i verbally explain something like, "think of the hand like a flattened cube with 4 tubes coming out of one side, this cube can bend in 2 perpendicular directions in the center, the thumb is a fourth cylinder and its axis of rotation is at the base of the cube". if they have trouble drawing cubes then i tell them, lets draw some 3d volumes to train your mind's eye to understanding how volumes work.

this is what i mean by specificity/scope.. the trick to getting out of a beginner trap is drilling down to the specific objective tasks you must do to improve. when i have a friend who comes to me for help, i dont just vaguely tell them "just draw hands a lot" i throw a bunch of resources at them and tell them how to practice. you teach them how to ask the right questions so they know how to obtain the specific resources they need and map out how to get there.

I agree with this. "Just draw" is also useful in building up a habit long-term. It's up to the person drawing to establish quality use of that habit, but that's a different matter.

DAB is definitely worthy of being a beginner-tier art course. It teaches how to draw in an unintuitive, yet fun to follow way.
>>6197151
Hands are funny. You two of them you can move and pose however you want. They're the best reference material your own body provides.
You can usually just get by drawing sausage fingers and then drawing a more rigid, 3-dimensional contour by posing your hand to fit the image you're drawing.

I think the biggest trap for BEGs are "criticism" from the people who never draw or have no knowledge of art. Listening to these faggots only further worsen your art because you will both be a cuck, and learn no fundamental from them.

>> No.6197879

>>High details, texture obssession
>>Suck art pros's dick, expect them to promote you

In conclusion, if you want to be an artist, learn fundamentals, the basics and keep everything to yourself.
