Can you get good at art (enough to get commissioned) in half a year by doing Peter Han's course and following Naoki Saio sensei's 3 months improvement method exclusively?

Has anyone tried combining them to make an ultimate way of improving fast? Do you want to test it out? Especially as a permabeg that had been drawing floating heads for so long?

1. pick an artist who has a lot of content to study from
2. they have a lot of illustrations to study from.
3. make sure they are using the same medium that you intend to use.
4. look for artists who have strong construction in their process, most good artists do but it'll make things easier to break down when studying from them
5. choose the artist who has drawing process videoes or tutorials for their style. makes things easier for you

hope i narrowed things down for you

I think his point is to stop making goals like being a certain level after 3 months. You are unaware of the psychological sabotage that will cause; it will eat away at you in the background, that date, 3 months from where you start.

It always comes from people planning in advance, until you actually went through the rigors of such a bootcamp will you realize how foolish it actually is. Better to take it slow and find your pace then forcing the pace and believe me, you will end up far slower if you burn out than if you would have just kept it at 3 hours a day.

Yes I am. Because I consume a fuckton of art and he has a very generic concept of what is good.
Desaturated and darker images have their appeal and many artists use it intentionally.

This fag has no idea how to do anything without smearing high saturation everywhere.
He's a dime a dozen pixiv artist who is way too conceited for his skill level.

NTA but this fallacy of appealing to authority is as bad as crabbing and destroys any sort of conversation about a topic that might actually be productive

>> No.6171409

>>6171393
Hmm I don't think it's compareable.
Appeal is just in the eye of the observer, and sadly the mass decides on popularity of illustrations not the individual artist. So something we find appealing might not be appealing to the general public.
Now in this case I believe that saito is someone who has a lot of knowledge on "what appeals to the public" which is the general goal on which basis he corrects illustrations.

We have the same taste, anon. But, it was him that introduces me this method. Even thoughI do not quite agree with his use of colors (again, it is because I prefer old time cartoon and anime where most of the time they do not use oversaturated colors). Also, the composition explanation in this book is fairly easier to consume that le western's composition books where they dedicated 80% of the writing rambling about art history or non related subjects for some weird reason instead of telling you why this or that composition looks good.

>> No.6171433

>>6171335
Depends. I like watching his paintovers because half of the time are methods that I've used/tried in the past and I could agree with what/why he does X, or if the methods didnt work out for me and he gave some ideas on where to use them instead. Other times I just like to see new ideas I could take from him. Best is if he paintovers someone's artwork that's about similar as my current level and see what else he could add to make it more appealing.

Whelp once I've finished all the comms for this month I'll probably try this one out. It's literally just a master study anyway.

>> No.6171998

>>6171409
Not everything needs to appeal to the general public and that's another flaw of his. He focuses heavily on general appeal at the expense of specific or niche appeals. Low saturation art isn't as popular as generic pop art. But it has a fanbase of its own and doesn't need to be fixed to become generic pop art.

>> No.6172015

>>6171998
To add, that isn't to say teaching popart is bad. But if youre critiquing something of a different style don't just say "make it my style lmao" you cater the critique to the style.

If you watch sinix paintovers for example even when he's doing anime art he tries to keep the style and mood that was going for it and addresses the things that are universally wrong.

you ca still post your progress not only for accountability but also as part of a collective motivation sort of thing where anons see others progress and get motivated to also progress themselves and post and it snowballs into a cool study and improvement threads/threads where everyone levels up

the fact the majority of posts are complaints about not being able to choose someone to study or only posting the very first portion that isnt a drawing is kind of disheartening and only makes people think that no one is doing anything and again, only like the idea of drawing instead of drawing
