That's just the thing though, AI is going to kill everyone's jobs before 2030 and you would be a fool to think otherwise.
Programmers, writers, artists, designers, musicians, asset makers and many more will be the ones to be fucked first by capitalism and there's no way to stop that from happening (it even is convenient for governments in order to push and establish once and for all a social credit score system through the necessary implementation of things like universal basic income)

>what's you argument against this techie, I don't see why artists of all kinds won't lose their jobs
The argument is literally the same as with the invention of projectors, photography and real-time 3D rendering software.
Putting aside that the state-of-the-art models still struggle with making the images correspond to the prompt, confusing the amount of objects, their relative sizes or which parts of the description correspond to which part of the image, let's assume this one is perfect and doesn't ever get it wrong, AND draws everything in the exact requested style AND the exact requested viewpoint. This leaves us with two groups of artists to consider:
1. Fine artists, who paint for galleries and private collectors.
2. Commercial artists, who make product imagery, illustrations, comics, concept art, etc.

The first group is absolutely unaffected by the model's existence - some might include it in a series of work they do, others don't need to even think about it. Their works are unique and their clients buy them because they were made by these specific artists, regardless of what tools they used.
The second group is now relieved of the burden of having to do the manual work they've done before. They're literally in a position no different than they were when projectors, photo bashing and 3D paintovers came out - they have a tool that makes their job faster. If anything, this means they can now deliver their products even faster, with less exhaustion.

The only group that is going to be affected by this are people who chose to both:
1. Work in a commercial, deadline-driven capacity, and
2. Refuse to learn how to use new tools when they come out.
In other words, absolute, utter imbeciles.

Now ban these shitty threads, the trolls who pretend they're a "worried artist", and the useful idiots who contribute to bumping them without even understanding any of this.

Comics and art in general have zero utility value, they are only valued by humans because they enjoy the emotions these media provoke. If a "retard" or a robot can provoke said emotions just as well as the artist in question, then the only thing the technology did was make the emptiness or shallowness of the artist's output blatantly obvious.

What about competitive sports like chess or esports? I can download a chess AI and beat Carlson with a 100% chance, and yet him and thousands of other chess players have not quit because of that. It's because he doesn't give a shit if AI is better than him at chess, because he knows that it's just strings of numbers, and not flesh and blood, and therefore not a fair comparison.

If AI in art is so scary, then please explain to me, why AI (that has been around for almost 3 decades now) hasn't killed sports like chess.
>inb4 because it's a competitive sport
Okay, well what about people who play chess as a hobby, they haven't quit because of AI, so why should we?

AI is just going to be something we'll have to get used to, and even if it gets as good as us someday (which it probably will, I should add). Then that doesn't mean that we can't still draw as a hobby, just like the people who play chess as a hobby, or any other kind of online sport.

People consume the result of what an artist makes, while people consume the process of a chess match. People don't just look up the results of chess matches as a hobby, chess is a completely different ball field.
Ai will replace artist because the only value it has is in the end result, which can be automated and no consumer would give a shit. AI will never replace chess players, because the value in chess is in the process of watching to humans play chess. There is no value in the match results.

This is a gift not a threat. You can use it too.

why do people still buy hand made pottery if the machines can do it faster?

His business wouldn’t last. The creative process being an open thing may be a bigger, more expected deal from artist with the rise of automation. Everyone has a camera on them.

Webcomics with a storyline were always shitty anyway. If companies actually don’t advantage of this then I don’t see much of a problem.

>/pol/ tricked me
How? /pol/ is always denouncing the International Jew and globalization, this is only a "leftist" issue in the sense that the left is the recruiting center for goons who will uphold the system and bash down any counter-culture, they're tools and their goals are irrelevant to the powers that be, only their busybodying is necessary.

Also, you are wrong to assume artists will be the first to go.
Art is very complex, many easier jobs will get replaced first. The only reason you think art is getting replaced "tomorrow" is because there is no right/wrong in art, so you see a half-baked, "almost there" drawing done by a robot and think that's good enough, but it's not. It can't be turned into a product yet.

Many other jobs are also in this "almost there" stage when it comes to automation, but it's not something that you can easily show like you can with a picture.

After 2 years of an absolute "COMPLY!" attitude from the left, this is extremely disingenuous of you to say.
Again, it doesn't matter what the leftist ""thinks"", but what it accomplishes for the people controlling its actions. Stop looking at the finger, retard.

I think there will soon be a demand for AI overpaint artists for the purpose of elevating the art to something that can be copyrighted and also to fix the visual errors. That seems like the logical intermediate step before the technology is perfected.
