Anyone know any good painting resources or courses that just go through a bunch of materials and their properties

how bout you read How to Render by Scott Robertson. Hes goes step by step in detail on stuff like light sources and reflectivity. has dedicated pages on different types of materials too, but those less in depth and more theoretical.
its a pretty good book you should check it out

So I've seen this a few times. I think it's interesting. I've done a lot of focus on construction on a lot of things. So does it apply both to 2D, and 3D? Is this texturing?

Okay, values and colors aside, when doing this
>>6141494
you basically have to know
>glossiness
>specular reflections
>translucency and its internal scattering behaviour
>fresnel
>anisotropic reflection for hair, grinded surfaces etc..
>bare basics of lighting: keylight, shadow, halftones, bounce, ambient occlusion
>texture
of the material in question.

Now this all may sound very technical, but in fact it is the most basic shit you learn in your first two weeks when seriously learning about painting.
/begs who transition to /ints learn all that stuff. Only anime-brain-fried permabegs on /ic never learn that shit.
You are not a permabeg, anon, are you?
