Ex: Sushio, Imaishi, Yoh yoshinari, Yoneyama, Mai etc. I think all their artworks are really eye catching and fun to look at. They really play with perspective and dynamic poses. The problem with lot of artwork nowadays I feel is that they too bland with the composition and looks same.

The artists from trigger and gainax are what got me into animating. Promare, LWA, and FLCL have some really energetic and fun animation, it always gets me pumped to draw more

Trigger does decent animation but like their stories it tends to fall off. They don't have nuance and just go with generic over the top flashy endings/action scenes. It's cool the first time you see it but I was watching BNA the other day and the ending just made me bored rather than entertained. It was just big flashing lasers and giants for no reason. The same shit happened in klk and basically everything I've ever seen by them. They can't make good action scenes because of the same reason they can't write a decent story. Their entire idea of good is huge and flashy with no substance.

I think you're missing the point. The essence of their style of storytelling is watching a pot boil over and burn down the entire neighborhood. It's a continuous escalation untill climax. Subtle is for other studios. The joy of anime is that they aren't all the same.

I mean they're really good but I wouldn't necessarily say they're the pinnacle. There are other really good studios filled with talent like KyoAni, Doga Kobo, ufotable and others. Gainax/Khara started using too much CGI, it was definitely noticeable in the new Evangelions.

What amazes me the most is how there's so many animation studios in Japan compared to other countries. They keep cranking out high quality new anime every single day, no other country can keep up, not the French, not the Americans.

I love it. FLCL and Kill La Kill are amazing.

I think Panty & Stocking looks terrible though. A lot of the posing and staging simply does not work with the style, but it shows you Japan has a hard time just phoning it in with constant 3/4 view angles like the west does and that's admirable but it just doesn't work.
