I am trying to learn to draw vehicles in perspective, the teacher says to do simplified block-like drawings to start getting it.This is meant to be a tractor, does it read like so?
I guess, but nowadays I'd expect a tractor to have a covered cabin
Your teacher sounds like a brainlet fuckwit because thats what every aphantasia NGMI says to doNo it doesnt look like a tractor it looks like constructoid cope
negative soul...
>>6125130I mean Kind of. Once you get the wheels in there and remove the squares around them, then it'll start to look more like one.>>6125136>Your teacher sounds like a brainlet fuckwit because thats what every aphantasia NGMI says to doEvery teacher says to start off with simplified shapes when doing vehicles and other machines. It helps you plot out where to start laying everything in even if OP's doesn't look the best. This is pretty basic stuff when you get to this point.
>>6125136You will never gonna make it. Loser.
>>6125130Based Robertsonpilled OP.
>>6125130yeah. I didn’t even read your post and my mind fill in the gaps for me
>does it look like X?Here's a better exercise: copy a picture of a tractor. Then draw the same picture again, but using these cubes instead of detailing the forms. Now you know how to construct a tractor.
>>6125141Of course every teacher says to do it, because theyre a fucking teacher, they failed at art and that was their only option left>>6125147The truth will set you free even if at first it makes you seethe
>>6125162Never
>>6125130draw through
>>6125130Making that would take you 5 minutes in sketchup.
>>6125162>Of course every teacher says to do it, because they're a fucking teacher, they failed at art and that was their only option leftSo then why shouldn't someone listen to a teacher on this especially if they show they have the ability to draw the subject matter?
Is this a bit more presentable? I am struggling with the exercise ngl, I got 4 more of these things to make>>6125148>>6125141>>6125134Thanks guys>>6125136Why is that, what'd you recommend instead?>>6125138Yeah, I guess
Oh Deere!
>>6125169If you really need it explained to you, you wouldnt get it anyway, constructoid
>>6125166>Deere!Yeah, I am thinking the same but the teacher insists this exercise is a core fundamental that is too valuable because of being able to free hand or use it when designing
>>6125172So you have no actual answer then. Okay.
>>6125170use a real tractor referencenothing about what youre doing makes any sensereal objects arent perfect boxes
>>6125177Yeah I know, but thats what the teacher wants rn, just basic, box like vehicles and nothing else, says the priority is learning construction and understand orthographicsit has 3 phases1. Box like2. More complex forms3. Detailed I am progressing through these phases each week, so next week it'll start looking more complex
>>6125170Because it is immediately obvious every single time without fail when a vehicle was drafted by a constructoid. All of the smaller details, the wheel hubs, the lights, windows, doors, trim and so on are drawn to fit inside the shitty disproportinate little boxes you drew, instead of being properly spaced . Also, it looks soulless every single time. My recommendation is to just draw the fucking tractor and quit being an autistic robertson about it, youll get there
>>6125176>why shouldnt you listen to someone who receives a paycheck based off your inabillity to draw>why shouldnt you listen to someone who couldnt make it as an artist and had to teach instead
>>6125182You realize if you're a concept guy when your short little 3-month contract ends and you have no other skills you're finished, right? Do you know what some of these industry guys do in the meantime to make ends meet? They teach until they find something else.
>>6125180>All of the smaller details, the wheel hubs, the lights, windows, doors, trim and so on are drawn to fit inside the shitty disproportinate little boxes you drew, instead of being properly spacedI think thats the point of the exercise tho, just to teach you how to move around in perspective axis in 2DI can tell by the homework for next week that things start to look more complex and difficult, and week 9 they are making really cool looking and detailed stuff
>>6125184>>6125182That Anon is right by the way, the teacher is Charles Lin and actually works in the industry
>>6125187I dont give a fuck who it is, these lessons are pure garbage dragged out to fit a semester
>>6125203Dragged out?Bro, I am struggling to get all the work done week by week, I have to finish by the 28th and I am not even 30% done with all the workload, gotta figure out how to render spheres, and do like 5 A3 pages of sketches for clothing/fashion plus like 40 perspective thumbnails of environments
>>6125203You’re right about it being garbage but you’re wrong about those who can’t do, teach boomer logic. Such a concept doesn’t apply in the arts when your employment depends on how useful you are in each pipeline of the product.
>>6125130Don't listen to the guys telling you construction is bad, they're just butthurt because someone told them they should practice construction in an argument once and sometimes they spam the board with anime-themed anti-construction threads. Drawing from reference is also a good option, and you could try doing both and see which one you like more.>>6125170I like these ones, they're like little animals.
>>6125218Thanks Anon, I appreciate itI'll try to make the next ones better
>>6125187just saw his artstation, he's... not good
>>6125130I was thinking more an old-timey racecar but sure
>>6125177>real objects arent perfect boxesNobody says they arebut any object has only 3 dimensions and therefore can be enclosed in a box
it perfectly reads tractor to me op.
>>6125241Maybe one step up from the drawabox guy.
>>6125269>>6125241I mean, he is a concept artist not an illustrator, the stuff he makes might not be the most polished stuff but the design is there and looks pretty rad
>>6125182>why shouldnt you listen to someone who couldnt make it as an artist and had to teach insteadThis doesn't make sense because a lot of good artists do teach. Where do you think all of these courses /ic/ hoards come from? Even then OP is most likely taking a class where a teacher that didn't actually have any practical knowledge on the subject they teach wouldn't get hired for it.
>>6125664Its the same teacher from Feng Zhu's School of Design, or used to be
>>6125134Ye aint knowing what em tractor is son, ye should come to t'farm more often son
>>6125673So this is the power of FZD
>>6125850FZD CONSTRUCTOID CHUDS BTFOHow will they ever recover?
