What are some books on composition for paintings? I'm looking for the Loomis of composition.

Honest question, why post here instead of looking through the thousands of answers already given throughout the years, the books/videos/courses that have been recommended before? Could this be a way to rationalise not opening one of those pdfs, or trying a few exercises you can find right now?

You don't need a book or a drawing skill for composition, what you need is imagination and compose the images in your head and visualize it in a form of meditation. When everything is clear in your head then you can start drawing with no construction, no erasures, no testing, just go ahead and draw because the image is already in your head.

If you have trouble seeing with your mind's eye I suggest working in fastfood instead, hope this helps.

No, it's a way to save time. I might spend an hour searching the archives or even worse google to try and find a good book versus posting this thread which took me 30 seconds. After posting this I just went back to drawing. I am more likely to get a good answer from someone here with minimal effort. I also don't have thousands of pdfs hoarded.
Also, I've found that /ic/ (and 4chan in general) meme books are often very good, at least one's from old 4chan. Nowadays people have started advertising their shitty books so it's harder to judge.

That's not what composition is retard, it's placing things in your painting in such a way as to draw the viewer's eye. Why would I waste my time trying to figure that out on my own when the masters already figured it out hundreds of years ago?

The thing is anon, people are getting bored of answering the same thing over and over. It's like, you don't want to spend time doing the effort of searching, and instead waste other people's time to do that for you. Why should be help you then?

The time it would take you to study one of those composition book range in dozens of hours. 2h spent searching the archive is negligible in comparison.
