I think people just forget or don't know how easy it is to set up a few lights in a 3D program and never have to guess where to put contours, shadows or specular lighting, not to mention just copy the ambient occlusion. It'd be all in front of you, calculated by the program, no time wasted, not guessing needed, all you need is a second monitor and you'd have the perfect setup.

I have been painting intensively for 2 years, now on hiatus, and the more I painted, the more shitty saki and clones art looked to me while the art fromuch less famous but much better wrtists I started to admire

fucked up anatomy, fucked up proportions, boring as hell scenography, monotematic, uninspired, only and always the famous characters

I personally love painting the less famous ones, really loved giving life to Madam M, Lani, Black Mage Yuna, SF3 Elena, Rita from Galerians, SC Double Agent Enrica Villablanca and so on, each one in different context and trying different shades of the same style, all of these works with detailed hand painted backgrounds and dignified or powerful looking
