Ryan Heshka
2018, oil on canvas
There is something unease about the painting at first look, you can identify the face, a cig but with four extremely long fingers that tells you this is not a human. Almost as if you are peaking into another dimension. The curtains pulls your eyes downwards, along with the elongated long arms.

The ballet feet on white heels, yet again brings a certain unease to the audience. It allows the viewer to depict of hanging or sprained ankles.

When you start noticing the details, the purse, the cig-box on the floor. The flies draws your eyes back up to the subject matter. The pastel flowers are there to project a certain feeling of ordinary and to balance the uneasiness of this kitchen scene.

Ok, I sell prints with charcoal on them and pass them off as drawings. I've made a lot of money that way but it will come back to bite me. I'm doing art as a career so I'll be fucked if anyone finds out and my reputation will be destroyed. I've been incredibly depressed and I'm struggling to find a reason to live.

1) There is nothing wrong with hustling.

However, if you do hustle in a way that is not honest. You will suffer for it.

I assume, you made prints and added a layer of charcoal over it, add fixative over and sell it.

Here is what I think you need to do, you need to create the original prints in the first place.

When you do add charcoal over the prints, you have to value add. Adding value to that piece of ready made art is the key to your success.

You see, art is a visual illusion. There is no one way to create illusion. You do not need to follow a certain academy style or way to create art.

In the digital world, many uses tracing and photobashing in their art creation. The problem here is, if you do not add value to the print itself. You already have a method and a trick. All you need now is to add value. You must also constantly find ways to perfect your technique of prints and charcoal. Do not be complacent with what you already made.

Make it even more simple and child-like, wit less lines the better.
You could make it with that art style if you find a niche market for it. Very unlikely to succeed by possible.

Here is the key. Add some context to the art, humor perhaps, or whatever that sells.

Your audience will not be attracted to the quality of art but to that added layer of context.

here is an artist who made it with such art.

You have to ask yourself 3 questions.
Write down the answers on a piece of paper.
At least 10 - 20 answer for each question.

You have to write it down. This step is very important, it is to visualize it into reality and solidify your thoughts.

Why are you /beg/?
What can you do now to stop being a /beg/?
What are your goals as an artist?

If you still need help, post your answers.

lol youre right, that advice is hollow and extremely trite
obvious stuff that just amounts to "i should work harder to accomplish my goals"
here

learn to draw the human body before clothes
and then learn how clothes work, they don't wrap around the breasts like that, + you are lost on how to show folds
proportions are important, always make sure you're abiding by them
i see what might be a faint loomis sphere for the head which you proceeded to completely ignore by winging the head entirely
most importantly use a reference when learning, stop it with the imagination shit for fucks sake youre not earning yourself any points by doing this

Use the rule of 80/20
80 percent refine, 20 percent sketch lines, vice versa.
Which part should be refine and which part should be sketch is up to your individual taste. Good luck.

I understand how hard it is to sneak in time to draw. Try carrying a small a5 size note book and a pen everywhere you go. It is better than quick doodle to feel you done something.

>The Pareto principle states that for many outcomes, roughly 80% of consequences come from 20% of the causes
you must be pretending
this is like if i told you to "use the rule of nines"
"9 lines per sketch, 9 forms per drawing, 9 folds per clothing, 9 inches per line"
