If I buy a drawing tablet, will I see an automatic increase in my drawing abilities?

>> No.5233069

no

>> No.5233074

>>5233047
Nope. In fact you might even get worse. You would be lucky to stay at the same skill level

>> No.5233078

>>5233047
Not if you're coming from traditional or non-screen tablets but it's obviously better if you're drawing with a mouse like a retard.
The biggest factor when it comes to tablets is size really, get the biggest one you can even if it doesn't have a screen.

Yes but it must be a Wacom Mobile Studio Pro 16 or they just will not.

yeah.

I'm having trouble understanding you.
Are you saying a mouse is better than a tablet? I try drawing shit with a mouse in tegaki and it always looks autistic.

>>5233100
I don't understand how you failed to understand that.
>will I see an automatic increase in my drawing abilities?
>not if you draw traditionally, yes if you are a mousetard

>> No.5233114

>>5233103
Oh I see.
Well, I have been drawing mostly with mouse, mainly because it's easier to fix mistakes and color and shit.
Maybe I should try practicing more with paper

>> No.5233117

>>5233047
No you retard. You have to practice.

I've no idea what everyone else is shouting here. When I got my first screen tablet, my enjoyment of digital art, my productivity and my progress improved instantly. I'd used a screenless one before, as well as some traditional media.

Unironically, yes
Spending money on hardware makes you prone to work hard to justify your investment. The bigger the cost, the harder you'll work

I'm going to lend some support to these two posts.

I think it's definitely possible to be motivated by the thing you're using. I really enjoy sitting at a computer desk, two monitors, headphones on, left monitor with something inspiring like a movie on mute or an image slideshow or an abstract/"psychedelic" animation, and my right monitor running software. I also like undo and layers as features. If I had to sit in front of a canvas, I'm not sure I'd be anywhere near as productive. I've been slowly transitioning more and more into traditional, and I think it's because I had a safespace/sandbox to learn the fundamentals. Despite what some people on here will tell you, the skills are transferable. If you learn value, then you can draw with graphite. You have to learn control and pressure, but you will not have to retrain your eye.

It happened for me, drawing became much more easier and my friends were amazed at the rapid improvement.
it made drawing much more comfortable so i drew more. that's the real cause and effect.

But only if it's an Apple iPad Pro 12.9.
There's a reason why all art professionals are using it.

For me that wasn't the case, i got a non display tablet and i kinda got demotivated but still grinded, not as much i should have but still.
Now recently I got a display tablet and found the motivation again, it was all mostly because of that hand eye coordination, now I get the same feel of drawing on a paper with a pencil but with all the benefits of digital.

This, I have a tablet but I hate drawing on it because I go from /beg/ to super /beg/

because it's tailored to professional studios. Don't get an expensive screen tablet unless you actually make decent money doing illustrations or commissions

I wouldn't say your abilities themselves but your works yes

being able to use layers, select tool + transform, zooming, changing canvas size and undo among others are huge advantages over going trad

nope at all

>>5233047
No, if you haven't used one before, you'll find it awkward and suck at using it for at least a few months until you have enough mileage to handle yourself with digital stuff.

>>5233047
no, use an ink pen and paper
no ctrl-z, no erasing, draw deliberately and own your mistakes

>> No.5237571

>>5234753
Agreed, going from pen and paper to plastic on plastic is really jarring.
Also if you're a heavy had drawer your hand will stick to the surface of the tablet and have crunch movement with the funky glove thingy.

Drawing? No. Coloring? Probably yes. Most people can't blend real pigment to save their life, but digital color is easy. Saying this as a digital artist who cant paint worth a damn irl, of course.

>> No.5238320

>>5233047
Yes, you inherently draw better the closer you get to trad.
