I am pretty new to drawing still, I read betty edwards all the way through and did a few exercises and that's it. I have experience doodling really stupid shit but I never really tried to actually get good at real art.

This is a failure I did of trying to try a figure from reference, I think the got to proportion right but I don't understand how to draw all the muscles, shading, shadows, etc in-between. Everything gets all muddy and I can't figure out the proportion between abstract objects like shadows and other dark spots.

I ended up giving up.

Not sure what I should be studying right now, I got pretty frustrated. I wonder if I am trying to do stuff that is way beyond my level.

How do you handle perspective when it changes a shitload? For example a bunch of people with their arms in different directions and stuff? Theoretically I could autistically find every single perspective for every joint and such, but is there a more practical way?

Take what I say with a grain of salt but the abs look orthographic and his left bicep looks like it's dislocated or something. It makes sense why it'd face that direction but something is off. Maybe the deltoid?

Eyo, Im trying to learn how to paint values after years of only doing lineart. Could really use some guidance.

I feel like it every time I try to blend between two colors the transition always ends up muddy. Im just using a hard brush at 40% flow because ppl say thats all ye need.

Im not sure if I should blend more, less, get a mixer brush or ditch the hard round meme. How do art good?

Early wip. Advice on the arms? For the arm on the viewer's right, the elbow isn't even touching the table, but it should be. But I'm not sure how to make it touch besides just making the whole arm longer, in which case I think it would end up looking too long. I'm pretty ok with the placement / proportion of the hands so I'd like to fit the rest of the body to the hands.

Portraits drawn from photo reference will by definition never get you out of /beg/.
Unless you don't care about doing original work and you only want to draw portraits of people from reference. In which case that's perfectly fine, keep doing what you're doing. Nothing wrong with that.

I will say though that the colors you chose for the girl don't really seem the match the background, it looks like she's in an entirely different
environment. Consider how light reflects in the next picture.

No. Draw in the position that's appropriate. Drawing from the wrist, elbow, and shoulder are all acceptable, drawing only from the shoulder is a meme from here, and irrelevant to actual art.

I am pretty happy with how the face turned out. I didn't want it completely flat and it isn't. Though I don't like anything else about it. The hair looks stupid in general and as only two tones.

Head too big, even with anime lolibaba proportions, maybe I should shrink it to 90%
No f*et yet, I want to fix the lower leg first before I begin studying, I also need to find a way to support the sculpt permanently or else they will deform
The hands are meh, the right one is better, but I got impatient with the left. Need to study more with more realistic hands at a bigger scale. I also need to find a better way of making hair
Note that this is my first time making the head, hair and hands, hips, torso and legs are what I have the most practice with
Should also get better wire, because the one I am using in this one is too stiff to correct after putting medium over and now the legs are mostly stuck in that position

I'm convinced most of these figure drawing websites are a bad idea since a lot of the time you'll be drawing people in perfectly ordinary positions. These sites are doing random shit or only hero poses. Seems like a poor idea. Copy the poses you want to draw, not some contorted sit pose you don't need.

so basically it’s a drawing course. In it you will learn different elements of drawing. I’d recommend it if you want to learn drawing but not if you want to learn, say, carpentry. There’s literally nothing in this course about carpentry. As in no tools, joinery etc. If you are looking for a carpentry course there’s a lot of great free content on YouTube because of the large diy community. Drawing has basically very little to do with carpentry, the skills aren’t particularly translatable so for this purpose I would not recommend Brent evistons the art and science of drawing. Nah, I can see how it might help. You'd basically be drawing precise lines with a guide, while closely examining someone else's line drawing and hopefully paying attention to what makes it work. Very basic kind of practice, but that doesn't mean it's worthless.

I changed the pose last minute so the bars coming from the legs are now in a weird position, you can see a curve in the right leg which is caused by this. What I was using as a base no longer works because both wires are not coming out straight down. The pastille block might be my only option for this, or maybe I could sculpt a base with polymer clay and stick that to a more solid object.
Today I will buy more—better—wire, and hopefully something I can drill a matrix of holes into for all future sculpts.
Worst is that the armature is not a single piece, since I want, in the future, to be able to section my sculpts for resin casting. In this figure everything is wiggling, but I believe it is all due to my poor planing and that I can make it work

As soon as I finish the f*et I will move into another sculpture and take better care with the armature
