I love the style and your lose brush work. I would maybe use some more altering colors where there would be shadow to step it up more. It has a lot of potential but its a little jarring how the same shade of pink is used mostly everywhere. You're doing a better job right underneath the mouth where you used some brown brush strokes. Same goes for the whiskers, they look cool but they would look better if you had just used more than the one shade of tan.

Very nice, it just needs a background. I love how where the hood comes over her face it looks like a skull.
>>5189887
Its nice, for some odd reason when I look at the thumbnail I was thinking this was a highly rendered piece. Your colors seem to be very accurate to reality for that reason. You might be better suited for painting rather than drawing. The way that her eyes look off into the distance is really kind of strange and unlikeable, I think she should either be looking at the viewer or up at her staff. Like, why is she looking way far over to the right? It doesn't really make sense.

5190088

>>5190073
wet sand looks different than dry sand - for normal sand it typically looks darker, and for volcanic sand like in your picture it's more reflective, making it look brighter, see attached reference pic.

Another things is how regular the outer edges of the waves in your pic are shaped - up, down, up, down. Making those a bit more irregular might help.

>> No.5190092

>>5190073
The colors are realistic for sure, nothing too over saturated.
You need to work on your textures. Those clouds in the back don't need to be that chunky, they can be made with a soft brush. You can use a different brush for the textures on the hat, also it would be good if you could try to distinguish the hat from being either a crocheted hat or a tightly woven hat (like the fabric of a shirt).
The biggest issue would really be the water. Its not looking very realistic because its not receeding into space very convincingly. Everything, as you know, needs to get smaller as it recedes into space but its not really achieving that very well. Make the triangles that are coming into the shore more varied, make them wider at the bottom where they are closest and narrower at the top where they are the farthest away. Make it more drastic. Make the splotches from the negative space of the bubbles larger where we are and then use a really tiny brush or a brush with a stippling effect to get the seafoam that is farther away.

you have to think of skin as semi-translucent plastic
So on forehead you have thinner skin as well as connective tissues where muscles attach to the scalp, so forehead is lighter and tighter skin. Logically that means that it is white or more yellowish.
Cheeks have more capilars (sorry if that is not how it is called in english) which carry redder oxygen rich blood so red/orange colors, while chin has more veins so blueish colors and darks with possible hair folicles for males.
You really just have to think about what is UNDER the skin.

I don't know how to describe it, I'm not a teacher. Just think of the large value shapes such as black, white and grey. You can't add too much white blotches to the grey area or it will look too white... same with the white area: can't add too much grey blotches to it or it will look grey.

You keep them distinct by not cluttering things with too many contrasting details. Keep it subtle.

Maybe, stop putting signature over work so carelessly. Air brush glow looks bad, instead of doing that, place lighter values on where you want light to hit, the air brush trick is lazy and doesn't look good.

Theres nothing wrong with your sketch, it's nice.

Sorry if I am a bit grumpy, I am just tired and sleepless so don't take this as an offense or anything.
Basically the main issue with your face is that the underlying form is busted, the forms are floating and not consistent with each other, if you would spin her face in 3d the values imply that her cheekbone that is facing the rim light is actually literally sticking out forward, her eye sockets and mouth also give a very strange feeling like she has a fetal alcohol syndrome or something like that.
In this quick paintover I didn't try to change her face too much, but I do not know what your original intention was for it.
Values you placed are also busted even more because the enhance the weird elements of her face and are inconsistent, for example why is there not more rim light on her nose if her nose is sticking out further from the face than the cheekbones? And if the rim light is so far back that is reflects only off of the fuzz on her cheek then there should be no rim light on the tip of the nose either. The values are also muddy with too many strokes that do not contribute to light and shadow shapes.
Also look at her overall body and try to redline it, she is built like a fridge with a gigantic head, wide shoulders (even if you account for the jacket) and disproportionate everything, if you would draw her anatomy in a t-pose she would look likea gorilla.
Painting over this won't fix it much, I would honestly just not be afraid to redo it entirely.

Just remember that both the drawing and the values imply shape
If you add a dark value that means that it is a face which is at a sharper angle away from the source of light
If you are not careful with values you might create a shape through it which makes no sense
I would scrap everything except for the idea, I would also go through quick studies of
>Basic forms in perspective (drawabox or whatever)>Basic forms in human anatomy (hampton or whoever)>emulating facial proportions you like from reference
Just do a series of studies like this to get your drawings right
Once you actually see all the faces you just have to think if each face is facing the light or not, if it is directly facing it then it is lightest, then as it spins away from light it slowly reaches like half grey dark and then as it becomes perpendicular to light it very quickly goes from dark to black

It's not bad, keep at it. I think rendering the head as an oval can be a simple way to show the tilt of the head, a circle can be a little vague. I would also throw in some a straight line or two to contrast against the curves you've got going on. The long S curve you've drawn going from the far shoulder down to the foot is great, as well as the < shape for the opposite side of the torso. That's a pretty classic figure drawing pattern that you'll see in a lot of standing poses. pic is how I might have approached it

People tend to use green on Necros for a lot of obvious reasons, but I say go against the grain and switch up the scheme.
Give her a royal, saturated blue and give the skulls a nice contrast with putrescent yellow and red. The incised runes can be purple to set them off.
I suggest these cause theyre color combos one wouldnt expect for the genre, and the complementary colors keep the viewers interest.

What the hell is the perspective here? Why is everyone so close together? Why are they all standing there? The two characters on the right aren't doing anything and seem irrelevant to the what's going on. It's very awkard they're all positioned. The girl the demon-guy is talking to is looking away from him due to how you positioned them, even though you clearly meant for her to be looking at him. Redline and you'd see her eyes are staring off past him.

It's just a very weird composition, anon. Also boring. Figure out what exactly is going on in this scene and either remove the two characters on the side or somehow tie them into it, them just staring at them isn't enough. They don't need to be there as it stands. Reframe the entire composition to make it more interesting/dramatic. You have a scene revolving around two characters having dramatic dialogue on a balcony (dramatic at least based on the girl's expression in reaction to the evil-looking demon-dude talking to her), make the composition suit that.

>> No.5197916

>>5197904
Fair enough, that's what I felt as well but wasn't sure. I guess I can probably make it so where its just the 2 characters. The perspective is kind more figured out for the fence and the charas but like the buildings in the back i sort of winged it. I will definitely see what I can do with the girl's eyes, shouldn't be too hard to fix

>> No.5198565

>>5195993
It's a bit monochromatic. I would find a contrast color that's not just skin. Maybe give her some neon green accents (portions etc ...) and try to mix one warmer color in there (purples, oranges, autumn colors maybe).

>>5196917
The full flat front facing angle on the face is a bit uncanny. You have a nice flow starting at the neck with these diagonals (arm, sword) and you kill it with the perfect symmetrical face. Crisp, clean linework and sick monster design.

>>5197735
The scene appears very flat, every character's head ends up on the same horizontal line. The first girl's feet end up below the demon ones, which makes no sense in your perspective. All the characters are just crammed in there and end up touching the edges on both side which is a very awkward composition choice.

>>5198491
Once again, appears a bit flat. Your character is very dramatic, with a lot going on but you don't focus on anything and just picture him as a matter of fact. The perspective looks almost isometric.

This is the kind of subject that would fit perfectly into a splash art kinda treatment. Dramatic perspective with a strong line of action, use the purple levitating rocks as decor, etc ... Maybe try some thumbnailing instead of sketching the character straight away.
