How hard is learning 3D for artistic purposes? For photobashing, tracing, paint over etc. Assuming you can already draw. Looking to speed things up

also does your computer need to be hot shit? Mines kind of old but 0 problems with photoshop and illustrator and stuff. I know 3D must be more demanding though

It depends on how heavily you want to implement it.

depends on the 3d software.
sketchup can run on a toaster f you don't have shadows on.

that's not how you use 3d

it's not a bad idea. only autists waste their time UV unwrapping and baking AO, painting it directly on a render is 100x faster

Not OP, any resources/guides for building 3D environments geared towards 2D artists?

It's a good thing as a posing tool.

SketchUp is a really good program to base off your backgrounds in. I think you can export that in blender.
But seriously though. The more time you spend on learning 3d, the better off you'd be.

I mean, why not.

I want to learn 3d to speed up webcomic backgrounds. How long does it take to learn simple modelling in blender? Best resources?

how do you use 3d?

Really easy to learn the basics of blender. Learn how cycles or eevee works, find some 3d character model and learn the basics of rigging/armatures and you're off to the races.

Tons of older artists use proprietary toolchains like maya or 3ds into keyshot but you can do all that for free now.
