Can someone please explain to me why it is biologically impossible for someone non-Japanese to draw Japanese style art?

No matter what one does, it will always look a bit off. It will forever be in the uncanny valley of a non-Japanese person attempting to draw manga-style or anime style. Same goes for writing Japanese characters by hand.

But I think biology does play a role in it, just differently than the retards here try to explain it. Asians look different, they're a different race after all. And there's a common phenomenon where a person strugfles to distinguish people of a race they're not accustomed to seeing (e.g. a white guy thinks: "all asians look the same"). Because you live in non-japanese society you're used to looking at and distinguishing non-japanese people. Japs, whites, blacks, etc all look for different cues in the faces of their own races to make distinctions between people. Its mostly instinct, people don't think about it if they don't have to. So since japs focus on different things when looking at each other it also later bleeds into their art. And just like they instinctively just recognize each other, they also instinctively draw their faces differently. Even if those faces are very abstracted like manga, your brain still proccesses it as a face, and therefore, it draws upon what it already knows about faces. So according to this hypothesis, to learn drawing more "japanese" you have to learn to distinguish japs as easily as you do caucassians and do some realistic studies of japanese people.

That's for faces, when it comes to lines just look up on youtube what tools they're using and how they're using them.

Japs don't walk into their highschool art class and immediately get told to stop drawing anime when the teacher glances at their sketchbook. They don't treat it as a passtime to or a side activity to do outside of their art class. They make drawing accurate anime in the current popular style their fulltime goal. Also westerners often tend to have the obsession with uniqueness. They want to have their own original style, so the deviate away from the common anime style. They also don't draw from Japanese references enough for this same reason.

I think the colouring is more to western tastes. JP stuff usually has a sort of watercolour-esque look to it. Take a look at beggish anime art by japanese and it will usually look really washed out.

If something is written in Japanese, it means someone bothered to write it in Japanese. Considering the amount of people who actually know Japanese outside Japan, or requires something to be in Japanese in order to read it, it increases the likelyhood a Japanese person did it (or at least captioned it) by a substantial amount. Since nobody would bother going out of their way to write something in Japanese except a Japanese person.

They develop that style by studying the fundamentals of what separates manga from western cartoon styles without trying to blend them. Remember, in Japan manga and anime are legit careers with vocational schools and universities specializing in them separate from normal fine arts. As in,they're studying the shit. honestly it's all in what kind of influence and culture you grew up in

i'm korean, and i grew up in canada but was raised on asian culture and media. in asian culture, there is a very specific sense of beauty that westerners don't want to embrace or have a very different idea of what is about.

small face for example, is extremely important. this is a concept that is so foreign to westerners they don't even know what this means; in fact, i have read somewhere in western movies and casting, directors would deliberately choose people with big faces and heads simply because their expressions read better. (ie. tom cruise)

so what does small face mean? well it means the facial features (eyes, eyebrows, nose, mouth) are all closer to the lower half of your face instead of spread out across the face which creates the impression of a smaller head. why is this important? because it looks youthful, and doll-like. this is not a concept westerners will ever understand or accept because asians are very straight-forward with accepting this kind of idealized beauty as standard.

to add to this, small lips, big and round eyes (and even shape of eyes; yes there's such a thing even amongst asian eyes which all look same to the westerner), a tall nose, heart shaped face etc.

if you translate to an anime drawing, you get what is essentially the caricature of asian beauty standards. Why do you think anime has weak looking, pointed chins? Have you noticed the lines that are drawn above the eyes? Why the eyes are bigger and rounder instead of sharp and narrow (usually reserved for cool type characters or men; women almost never unless she is a "bad ass" archetype.) why is the mouth almost non-existent or lips are so less pronounced?

to draw anime, you need to embody the asian beauty standards and live and breathe it. this is something asians with asian influence understands and westerners less so.
