So people who have an ipad. Do you use a matte screen protecter? If so is the screen quality reduction worth the feel? And if you don't use one why?

Yeah, I have the paperlike, you can just zoom in and the grainyness isn't a problem. If you just want a screen protector with no grain then use matte

I use one. The screen quality is obviouslu not as good without but god damn it feels good drawing with it.

Used to stick one of those paper-like but I removed it when a friend demonstrated the display quality difference side-by-side

I used exactly Elecom's paper-like screen protector, but the 2017 12.9 inch one. I liked the tactile feel on my fingers, didn't mind the fuzziness of the display, but I didn't enjoy the scratching noise so much. But most importantly - it ate up my pencil tip, to the point I was afraid the metal bit will damage the screen protector. After I replaced a few pencil tips, I gave up on it, and changed it to the HD screen protector, no more pencil tip wear, no scratching sound and I fully enjoy the crisp retina display.

>If so is the screen quality reduction worth the feel?
Yes. IMO the hit to screen quality is negligible and it generally made out to be worse than it is. You can notice it once you first put it on, but I promise that you won't notice it when you actually start working. The wear and tear on the Apple Pencil nib is actually less than I thought it would be, and I've noticed no difference in pressure sensitivity.

Also bought Elecom (Rough) for my iPad 11" (most recent model). I'd consider it a must-buy if you use your iPad primarily for drawing / digital sketching on the go.

So besides elecom, do you guys have any recs that work well and don't fuck up your pencil tips?

all the screen feels the same to touch, the plastic feel, so, a screen protector always is gonna make the experience more natural, even normal screen protector.
A textured one is recommended if you really feel the lack of friction in your movements.
Is honest to said, that with the pass of time you get used to the plastic feel of the screen, but the friction could be uncomfortable for people with sweaty hand, or just more delicated hands, that's why a lot of people use the glove.
Some people use the protector without the glove because is feel nice and the hands work fine, but some use all, textured protector and the glove.

not really, is just a different format.

>>5159650
just dont draw like a monkey, and buy replacement tips, some are cheap so is the best option to buy a couple of packs to secure a long time of life with the tablet.

these paperlikes and such are fucking trash and screw with image quality. if you don't like the slickness and want a real game-changer, get a 10 pack of the silicone tips for the apple pencil. you get the friction without paying three times as much for a protector that makes your screen look fuzzy.

I’ll have to try this. Maybe I’m just a retard or my house is dusty af but I tried like 5 times to put a matte screen protector on my tablet but would always have like dozens of dust particles causing bubbles under it

I'd say it adds 15-20% additional friction which doesn't sound like much but it really does make a huge difference. You can't really tell the difference right away but once you've used it for a few minutes and take it off, you'll be sliding all over the screen again. 10/10 would slap a rubber on again.

I learned the best way to apply a protective screen on a tablet from a guy on Youtube: Go in your bathroom, get it all steamy and the moisture will take care of all the dust particles. Then and there you'll get the cleanest job!

Been using a matte screen protector for over a year now. The nibs have worn down to the metal and make a scratchy noise which I actually enjoy. It doesn't seem to damage the protector except slowly reducing its matte quality to something I actually prefer (it was too harsh in the beginning). The protector creates this slight granular chromatic aberration but it's not too bad. Probably less than a single point on the 255 value scale. Would recommend.

I have a paperlike, took 2 weeks of shipping, it feels NOTHING like paper, it's slightly better than drawing on glass and drastically reduces the quality of your screen.

The wacom cintiq pro with a felt pen feels almost like paper, nothing makes the Ipad experience feel like paper, and nothing will until they release a felt tip or similar.

I've had my iPad Pro 2018 for 2 years now. I use the Super Shieldz brand, this is a matte protector. You get like 3 for $10, I replace it once a year just as a fresh start. I haven't had an issue with wearing down on my Apple Pencil 2 nib at all, probably replaced it once.
I can't draw on super smooth glass, so this works for me
