Is there hope of creating an animated series these days without it being completely pozzed? It seems like cartoons on major networks are just getting worse, and are more hardline about fitting in political messaging over good stories.

Are there any realistic alternatives to the big studios? I have dreams of making my own series, but I'm unsure of how to navigate the landscape right now. Can anyone else relate?

You can always go indie and do what you want. The guy who adapted Shoujo Tsubaki pretty much did it all by himself.

That said, be prepared to endure hunger and unstable income.

That's extremely impressive. The thing is I don't even want to do anything crazy like that film. I just want to make a nice wholesome show damnit.

Then do it and figure it out as you go. Go now, you have all that you need from this place. Remove yourself.

>I have dreams of making my own series
then the current state is more so fitting for you since pretty much anyone can get a show

although sleeping with a creative director or being a le influential blogger might be necessary

I want to make a cartoon too. Learn to draw, learn the fundamentals of animation. You can do it anon. You've got options. OpenToonz used by Studio Ghibli and Rough Draft Studio as well as for various american animated series/movies is open source as well and it's very professional.

When you think about it, animation is just a comic book/manga panel drawn thousands of times to make a moving picture.

I loved Code Lyoko. Was this used as an example of a "completely pozzed" show?
A lot of people are using animation software to make their own shorts. You can also do what other anons suggested and make a webcomic, then have little animated shorts as intros.

LatM in general has been doing fairly well in the cartoon departament, the non-network funded stuff is also starting to expand beyond comissioned evangelishiter propaganda, only form that has taken a big hit is puppetry and claymation, but those have been dead since TVcultura kicked the bucket, only place where it doesn't look good is nickelodeon and their newgrounds level shit

Nothing preventing you from doing so, everyone is looking at animations from the web. Pirate your tools from CGpeers, get inspiration from the stuff that you like, and publish your anims to lbry/YT

You plan on going viral (because that's your only hope) on the internet
From absolute zero
In the year of the Loomis 2000 + 20 + 1
Without being extremely rich and connected on your own (I assume or you would have achieved everything already)
Without pandering to upper class Americans who are willing to blow money on your Kickstarter
Without pandering to women (age doesn't matter, they don't grow past 13 mentally) with progressive narratives and gay love
Without pandering to cumbrains with fetishes (this includes pillow-humping weeaboos)
Basically you need to come out of Gobelins and put out a TV quality short entirely on your own and basically run on sheer "look what I can do" before resorting to one the things I mentioned above to stay afloat and actually eat.
Basically you need to make groundbreaking animation JUST to be visible, and then you'll still have to eat the cock.
Not shooting you down, just preparing your for what is real.
