simple answer is that they don't feel appreciated for their work they put in explaining something or going their way to buy, scan/upload etc only for some kid to call them faggot or instantly request more shit.

I'm making a living off art (semi-anime style patreon stuff, environment art, etc) and whenever I give honest, positive advice here, 95% of the time the response is "beginner", "bet you don't even draw", "gibberish", "ngmi" or such. But I'll keep trying.

Other than that, I come for the occasional wisdom from other posters, the book suggestions, the tablet and software discussion and just for inspiration.

I don't talk to anyone but my family all day. I used to be more active with more public groups, but they're mostly bitchy women and very cliqueish but are very popular on social media
I like it here because I find more relatable people, a lot of resources, interesting thoughts on art
Only issue I have is there's so much coom shit everywhere, but it's pretty eays to block on pc but I lurk on mobile and sometimes the ads don't hide. Also a lot of anons don't know how to give a proper critique, you need to point out strengths and weaknesses. I know there's a lot of talk about crabbing here, but why try to hinder an anon from never drawing again because anyone points out are flaws and they never see growth

This art community has some of the best resources around. Also, I like the art challenges. It helped me a lot during lockdown when I was having a hard time drawing.

Also, I do appreciate people's honesty and it's a place where I can give an honest critique. I don't try to be mean or anything, but running into people:

The only way to make an art community that isn't shit right now is to have a leading figure or a community of few who know what common sense is and have an agreement between community members that bans will be arbitrary instead of based on generic rules.
The problem is that common sense now enrages people so the guy managing the community will make a lot of enemies for little to no benefit in return. This is why this needs to be a community effort, there need to be like-minded people who want to do this for the sake of a community and nothing else. The problem is that 99% of artists right now exclusively want to make money and get followers and act with the same businesslike mindset as camwhores, when the definition of art and artist itself is blurred it's hard to even get to the part where you find other artists.
