Wow P*ra's fans are vocal about the new ban and they are not happy. They're discontented with the way b*nana acted and the whole permaban thing. I guess they were holding out hope for a short two week ban route. There's even a strawpoll that's garnered a couple of votes to have the permaban changed to a one month ban only. Obviously that wont happen but it shows how unhappy they are.

I don't think native american art is really relevant anymore on its own, but the unique and cool designs and styles you can get through learning various cultures' art forms and mythologies. Most popular designs and styles are pretty same-y, variety is nice.
it's too bad I'm too /beg/ to learn fancy design and stylization stuff, but one day!
comic related has some of my favorite designs and styles in it and a good deal of native american influences, if you can get through a decade of backlog with absolute trash art.

anyway, this rambling was probably a waste of time given this is the /dad/ shitposting&crabbing thread, but hopefully someone finds it interesting.

I don't have any walls I could practice on and I don't want to shit up any walls with my trash art anyway, so I'll probably never do actual street art, but if you have any resources on it they might be cool to look into out of interest or as an influence anyway.

You need to ask owners, most people would love to. Try showing your work or explaining what you want to do. Abadoned walls are an option too. Avoid painting over someone else's work, you'd be asking someone to vandalize it. The other mural I uploaded is related to sports teams, so fans of another team destroyed it. Literally smashed a rock to its face.

Wall paint isn't that expensive I think. What I spent on this mural was roughly 25 dollars and have enough leftovers for one or two more.
How about trying to do a manga or comic page you like, just black and white. Try out measuring, how to handle a surface (wall quality and so on) and dealing with paint (more liquid, more pasty). If it looks bad you can always cover with white paint again.

I went to university for a 'concept art' course, I won't say how that ended. no one is Ruan Jia tier in any course, maybe like one or two has skill, and then it's in one particular area like one guy is great at life drawing, but pretty ok at everything else or vice versa. Dear god you'd want to rip out your eyes if you saw the quality of what the tutors do though my friend, you have nothing to be afraid of when you can see the lack of skill from them. Plus you're there to learn, I guarantee if you show effort to learn and even mention that you draw every day, they'd love to take your money anon.

HatKidSmug. I'm still trying to practice using my pencil as a measuring tool and placing the key points where lines connect. I also tried to add some sort of shading. Looking back on the image it feels as though the character's right eye could have been slightly bigger, or placed slightly higher.

really think about if you need to go to uni, you can learn everything they can teach you for free, but you won't have the coaching, that's about it. there's a draftsmen series that goes into making a diy artschool you should watch. universities are a business like any other and imo are only worth attending when you need the certification from a prestigious one to get into a very difficult career, digital art ain't one of them. I did game art design at dmu and regret it. the lecturers were a+ and would give you time of day if you put the work in, but when I left I realised our whole curriculum was already covered by what you can learn online. couldn't even jump on the get job straightaway bandwagon cause I had to move back home for a couple of years.
just my ten cents, if you don't get in, it's not a closed door by any means. and if you've got the money to spend and don't mind the debt, keep applying or good luck with clearance

A big selling point was how you would be taught by "industry professionals", and there were only 2 guys who had worked for big studios and things and they only taught for a year before going back into the industry
The majority of tutors were people whose only experience was graduating from the same course a couple of years ago
The 3D lecturer was some guy who used to work on oil rigs as an engineer or something and just handed out sheets to Basics of Maya etc, and the animation teacher gave great crits, but could barely draw

Actual art schools are as much of a shambles, but I wish I'd gone to those because at least some of my classmates would have cared about art and drawing. At the computer arts course it was either tumblr girls or guys too lazy to learn how to code but still kind of maybe wanna make games someday.

god this made me so depressed when I realised it in like the first year. The dream was over. It was like a black comedy, I was watching stuff from Watts Atelier and Feng Zhu design school thinking I'd get the same structure and learning.
I wanted so bad to be taught and be given a 'roadmap' to success. Instead I got nothing.

This. Most people's improvement isn't going from scribbles to professional animu illustrations in a year. Progress takes time, and is incremental, and sometimes isn't obvious if you aren't looking for it. People often hide progress if their older work in comfort-zoning and they branched out with mroe recent work.
VuSta, for example, has gotten a lot better with bodies and perspective over the years, but it's hard to see since most of his older works have relatively simple angles/poses.

Anytime you feel yourself getting off task build a routine: Touch your nose, cross your arms and grip your hands, etc. and try to refocus your thoughts.
