half an hour a day isn't enough to appreciably improve, no matter how long you go at it like that. that's barely enough time to warm up properly, much less taking in new information and interpreting it in a practical manner.

don't be disappointed, you'll just turn art into a chore that's only worked at for the sole purpose of improvement. just have some fun with it without worrying about the quality. draw every day if you can, just for fun, study when you want to, at least just to get the excitement and passion back for it.
there's a certain nasty ego borne from spending years on something half-assedly. you begin looking back, lamenting all that time you wasted, and if you'd only spent that time more productively you could've gotten so much better, but the best time to start is now. cast away your false pride from having "spent" 8 years drawing, start anew and embark on the journey once more.
it's fun as fuck, man. just draw.
