You will need all of them and more. Animation is one of the few art forms more demanding than comics.

You can put color and value on the back-burner but everything else is pretty essential to animation.

Timing is a good one to keep in mind. It's rather uncomfortable to watch an animation that doesn't quite recognize the timing a scene should have.

Calm down. Thank you.

>> No.5069378

Studying gesture, timing and perspective (for layout) is the most important

Like >>5069299 said color be value is useless as an animator because other people will do that, unless you plan to be indie

I plan to be indie.
Some days ago I was browsing newgrounds and I found a lot of old animations.
They inspired me so much.

This person keeps saying the best animation books are all obsolete and suggests instead his terrible tumblr animator who only knows how to do one motion over and over again.

AAron Blaise has a series. I mean the principles are pretty easy to grasp you should just read animation survival kit and practice. This site also has a good list of exercises you could do as you improve.
https://www.animatorisland.com/51-great-animation-exercises-to-master/

I'm sure by the time you finish that list you'd be at least a little better. I haven't finished the list myself yet I got to walk cycle and work keeps me distracted but it's been a good help so far.

all but the least important would be stuff like color theory or rendering techniques as animation is mostly pure line work
