Different people have different learning curves, you will need to accept that. That other giy might stagnate and you won't, or not, either way who gives a fuck, focus on yourself and not some rando on the internet. I've been at art for most of my life and while my skills are very sound, there are still a lot of artists better than me. Those people don't make me feel down, instead they inspire me to be as good as them some day.

this is the best advice there is. when it comes to drawing there are so many different learning styles that come into play and you might even be the type of person who is garbage when it comes to following guides and so you have to teach yourself absolutely everything through experimentation to find what works for you.

I'm an autismo (/r9k/, not Rain Man) /beg/ who started coming here for the maymays and draws a few hours a week (at most) and even I recognized in a hurry that if your fundies aren't well-rounded you will always be the artistic equivalent of mentally retarded. Let's say, for the sake of argument, that you somehow manage to learn to draw this shit competently - what the fuck do you do after that? You can't put them in an interior or outside of a building or even adjacent to anything man-made, you can't put them in a landscape, you can't draw them interacting with an animal, you can't even give them a body - let alone clothe them properly. So you have a "competent" image of some head (a shoulder bust if we're being generous) floating in a grey void like some piece of soulless vidya concept art. How compelling.
