I really love /ic/, there's a huge variety of artists here with different interests and skill levels...

I highly suggest Twitch, especially if the artist is a guy. They usually have Discord servers where they chat after the stream. But it's a good way to see if their personality matches yours, if you get along in chat, etc

there are plenty of good ones but unfortunately i absolutely refuse to share them because /ic/ users who join always make the community worse. if it weren't for COVID i would suggest going to an irl life drawing session or some sort of art related event in your community. you can pretty much do the studying aspect of art on your own, but you need some pals if you're going to enjoy drawing. do you have any other hobbies?

RT's might not do much by themselves, but replies definitely do. It's all about boosting posts to your current followers so your work can hopefully get caught in a chain of RT's. Engagement from people with a few followers is better than no engagement at all.

It's not about getting fake followers, it's about making sure your posts stay in the algorithms so they can be seen by the people who follow you for your work. If nobody interacts with your work, it gets hidden by algorithms so that even people who genuinely enjoy your posts don't see them and forget about you.

I found those who think of it as a meme and rightfully so are gonna lack a solid basis for community because pro-fags get in the way of everything with their guilt-tripping hivemind. I suggest maybe forming communities on alt-tech if you fear 4chan is gonna get purged. If there isn't a community and of you absolutely want one, you can change that by making it yourself. Getting people to want to join in is a different story but advertising it on discord threads could help. Another thing is just studying yourself and having non-artist friends critique your stuff. If they're not brain-dead they can offer advice to help you improve. I mean artists hope to profit off non-artists anyways so their opinions do matter sometimes
