When was the first time you remember being happy with something you had drawn? How long did it take to get to that point for you?

Last night, when I said that it would be funny if someone drew Yuugi and Suika dressed up like Farnese and Schierke. I thought “wait I can draw that” so I did

I mostly copy from references, until the day I can draw from imagination I won't be satisfied.

Took me a week to fluke out something I was happy with because it was above my average, still happens constantly.
A better question is when do you reach the point where you're still happy a week later.

Not 100% related, but I drew a picture of an astronaut floating outside of a rocketship when I was but a wee child. Some days later, my mother took me to the dentist's office. The dentist subscribed to magazine called Highlights For Children, and one of the regular features was a showcase of artwork created by readers. It was the only feature that ever interested me besides the "Goofus and Gallant" cartoon (and even that ran a distant second).

A few weeks after the trip to the dentist, there was an issue of Highlights curiously mixed in with the regular house mail. I immediately flipped to the reader art showcase. Right there in black and white print was my drawing of the astronaut! Wouldn't you know it, my mother had submitted my drawing without telling me. It was pretty thrilling to see something that I drew in a national periodical. I was probably 7 or 8.

I did this like 2 weeks after I began drawing
I was happy as fuck that I could pull this just with a pixelated sprite of the character
Even looking at it today it brings me a smile

I was briefly happy with some vector art I made a year or so ago. I have never been happy with anything I've drawn. My earliest memory of drawing consists of being frustrated at how much I sucked compared to other six year olds.

I've always been happy wit my work. Jus noone else is.
