There are many threads on anatomy and artstyles, can we have one for buildings and architecture?
Is there some insight to it? Every time I try to make buildings (medieval, modern, futuristic), I try to put together many geometric shapes (like when sketching a body) but I find the result incoherent or lacking

Why someone would bother to paint this is beyond me. So much work, so little reaction. It elicits about as much excitement as looking at a photo of a real city, basically 0

Start copying real buildings from pictures or reality. Do it in a sketchy way on some and technical drawings for others. After you get the overall concept of shapes move to more organic shapes and ornaments. After many hours of training, making something up from memory should be natural. But you can always use reference. Good luck dude.
