I just draw, try to learn from things and use reference.
I really really wish I could get more help from this board though. Every time I post I feel I’m not given the advice I’m looking for and just get told vague things I already know to pursue like “use reference, loomis”

Anyway I have a specific question now regarding pic related and I don’t think beg will help me out. Top pic, left was a failed render and right is what I went with, bottom pic is artwork I like
Now, there’s a big difference which I think is how much negative space is used. You can see how large she looks and spans across the image, I’m never able to get my anatomy to look this way. Any advice? That artwork is by laserflip

I've never received useful advice from this shitty board. Literally just keep doing what you're doing. Use this board for fun and break time between drawing.

>Anyway I have a specific question now regarding pic related and I don’t think beg will help me out. Top pic, left was a failed render and right is what I went with, bottom pic is artwork I like

Left looks better imo, the dark values on the thighs and hips just need to be corrected. Try lightening the left hip to a slightly darker value than the stomach. Maybe get rid of the dark shadow on the right thigh, or reducing the size to the very edge of the forms.

Not sure what you're asking about the bottom pic. I'd say to just crop your image but I doubt thats what you're asking. I'm afraid you have to clarify.

As for bottom I guess I’m just referring to her proportions. She looks “large” but not in an American fat kind of way, her body just spreads across the whole image nicely without it feeling like it’s busy looking. While my art I feel it looks scrunched, it’d look the same if I just zoom in and crop more, maybe I just need to draw larger and adjust proportions to sort it out

I charge that price for two reasons
I try to be fair with my price compared to my quality which can be inconsistent, I have been raising it slowly over time, plus it being “low” makes it affordable to many people so I can just get more at a time with being generally low for now while I try to improve. Other reason is so that a price increase doesn’t alienate old and returning clients, a 5 dollar increase is more manageable than a 20 dollar one, I have seen /aco/‘s pricing which I kinda don’t agree with but that’s not business anyway. I think some of their prices leads to always having commission slots open honestly

Well some of the limbs of your character look stubby and short. Not sure if the images here are cropped or if it is the full image. But this can happen when trying to to fit a character onto a canvas that's too small for them. You force them to fit and things get wonky looking. Not sure if that's what you were asking.
https://youtu.be/38Jg3w14ziM?t=196
Here's an example of something similiar happening to an artist on youtube. At 3:16 she enlarged the canvas to check if perspective of the hat is correct. It wasnt, but she didn't seem to notice. If you fastforward further into the video you'll see she enlarged the canvas and was finally able too see the hat was malformed. I'm almost certain the bottom picture you posted is cropped. Or it was pretty heavily referenced from a real photo. Try to give yourself a bit more room for you illustration. Don't force your character to fit your canvas.

As for the limbs, I never felt like they were too stubby, I think if I made them longer they'd be too long. Maybe just the entire body needs to be larger? I suppose I can try to reference artists work whos proportions I enjoy. As for the face, I like anime eyes but I never like when theyre too large. I really need to learn to do eyes better as well. Drawing as a hobby since 14
Started taking it seriously 2-3 years ago.

This is most recent thing I finished: just something simple. Still some things I need practice with, but I'll get there, and compared to 3 years ago, I've made a lot of progress. Won't say I'm where I want to be yet, but considering where I've been, I'm pretty content with my pace of progress.

Keep drawing, anons. It doesn't get easier; you get better.
