It's definitely a fake thread but your drawing really isn't that bad. It's true it's not close to being the best of the day but it's a pretty presentable drawing.
Some things to watch for are the proportions between the torso and the limbs, and it might be worth putting some more time into studying fabrics.

not the OP of that post but i want to say we should change the way we vote for the thunderdomes.

I think we should vote on all the thunderdome battles in a weekly manner so that way we can get all the votes at once, also maybe make the vote public (as in people in dad only, not a set of judges, it puts too much pressure on them).
and then after the weekly voting, you're assigned your ELO which will be on excel sheet kind of like what we have for LAS.

so we do that jazz then every 3 months, the top 3 people that have the most ELO get a role for like what a month ? and then ELOs get reset. I know it seems more short term, but it's kinda discouraging to newer DADs who wish to be on top. If you wanna make it more long term, then maybe 6 months we restart seasons.

This book, "Drawing People" by Barbara Bradley I found very helpful. Life drawing didn't really 'click' for me until I read through it. It's not about drawing dynamic poses or cool angles, but just about drawing people in regular every day poses. I think there should be a PDF online somewhere.
Figure drawing of course helps a ton. I think a good exercise is to do a few neutral long form poses, maybe 10-15 minutes each, and then afterwards try to draw similar poses from imagination. You can frankenstein some of the poses you drew from reference together (like combining the top half and bottom half of two different poses), or try drawing one of those poses but maybe rotated or from a different angle, etc. That way, you get a feel for what it's like to invent a pose from imagination, but you still have some sort of base to build from.

Aside from the fact it might be something you just need actual trained assistance with,
realize what your priorities really are and why you want to do them. Assuming you are on this board/thread because you want to make art, remember why you want to make art, and remember that doing nothing and just ruminating on the past/present isn't going to make you a better artist. The only way to get to your end goal is to be proactive. The second you start to feel you are doing something that's not leading you in a direction to be doing something productive, you need to snap yourself out of it. Easier said then done but it's that simple.
I agree with the other anon, the key to staying happy is really to stay occupied with something you find purpose in.
Something also I believe strongly in is that there's a time and place for people to realize these things. You can tell someone over and over again to do something to better themselves but if they aren't in the headspace to do it they will not do it, which is fine. The key is just not giving up because your time will come when you start to think clearly about what you need to do to feel passionate about making art.

you'll know when you're ready. the point of drawing from reference is to build up your visual library and understand form to the point where you can replicate it without seeing a reference.
now if you are feeling that way, right now you probably should start using references in more creative ways (moving forms around, stretching and pulling in forms, drawing the same form but from a different angle). if you can start doing things like that consistently you'll be on route to being able to work solely from imagination- though i still recommend you watch references every now and then to guide the form

I can think of one flaw of my proposal. You may say that women are more likely to share their traumatic backstory since sharing emotions is encouraged for women to do, and discouraged for men. However, I am aware of many dads' backstories, and this theory holds true for all of them. I do not believe there is a self-selection bias here.

this may be a bit controversial but having an illustration you like open while you draw can help. Choose something that is like what you want in your drawing. Do not trace or copy it obviously but just look at specific techniques they use. Perhaps the way they shade is something you like. Do not apply the same colors/ composition either, just FIGURE OUT why you like it and how to achieve a similar look. Pic is an example. Perhaps I really like the perspective of this piece. How it hovers over the characters. Well then ill layout my own piece in a similar fashion but choose a perspective that suits me personally. I also like how crowded it feels with all the characters interacting. I’ll try to apply a similar atmosphere. The fundamentals should also be kept in mind. Notice how in the example piece, the clothing and figures are drawn very accurately. Maybe finds some references to help make your anatomy/ clothing more convincing. A final example could be how you think “oh wow the characters look so dimensional but have very little shading on them. I like how they did that! I’m going to do that too!!” Once you notice some specific details in the piece, just apply them to your own. This will not suddenly elevate your work, and many artists would consider this method as a study and not suitable to be used for illustrations but HEY if your rushed for time then just go for it. Plus, this is a very powerful study method that no one uses so be prepared for some MEGAGAINS if you do this 20 times.

I guess you people are using Chrome. It doesn't support PNG's embedded color profiles.
Or there's an image processing library at the website's backend that does the same thing.
You should export your images in sRGB for idiot-proof web rendering. Working directly in sRGB works too but it's gonna shit all over your color blending math. And using Firefox works for viewing shit assuming it's not the backend processing images that's that's the actual issue.

if you use Krita you need to use srgbtrcc as your colour profile for posting pngs to any site, at least on Firefox that fixed it for me. indexing doesnt always work since some sites dont allow for indexed pngs (or simply dont have a solution implemented to read indexed pngs) so the colours look drabber/darker/lighter depending on how its representing the file.

yeah basically. srgb is what most standard consumer grade monitors read.
when you force export as srgb it changes colour profiles as it exports, but its better to just draw from the same colour profile you'll be exporting as, and g10 (gamma 10, the default profile used in Krita) produces better colours but im pretty sure fucks with png exports. so set it at 16 bit/float per pixel and srgbtrcc and you should be fine with exports.

Png is good for high quality low-loss image files. I use it where transparency is important and for final polished pieces.

I use jpg for 99% of my dad submissions because its quicker and lower file size. Dad is not my portfolio so idgaf about image quality.
