Honestly Huston is just an amazing teacher. Talent in a field doesn't always translate well to teaching but Huston has a very clear and concise way of explaining things. He boils it down to something practical and clearly defined while also addressing any questions or concerns that might pop up in your head so you can set reasonable expectations. You could argue somebody like villpu or anybody else is more skilled or whatever but so far I haven't found a better teacher then Huston.

One thing I dislike about Huston is his aversion to faces, it’s like he just roughly blocks in something resembling a face because he can’t draw headless people, otherwise he wouldn’t even bother.
I still remember years back paying for NMA and watching his videos and in the facial feature video he just glosses over eyeball structure, tells you to draw a fish symbol and that he’ll show how to do it properly later. I’m not sure if he ever did

I just found some notes from the time and apparently the three huge megas shared back then came from ART KINGs discord channel, so I'd love to get an invite if anyone here could help.

The three megas were Books (77.78 GB) Courses (1.11 TB) and References (85.66 GB), back then at least. Those references were pretty good.

You realise that whatever shitty discord took their courses off cgpeers, right? cgpeers/persia combination has everything that I ever want or will ever want from courses, cracked programs, plugins and pro courses. Anyone who cares about art should get into cgpeers asap. They might have closed their doors and no user except official recruiters can issue invites, but you can still secure an official invite from a myanonamouse account that is 6 months old and has reached Power User userclass.

I warned people years and years back to get into cgpeers when it was open for signup. And now open signups are shut forever. Myanonamouse is currently the only way in. And myanonamouse isn't too difficult to get into or level up in at the moment. You know the people who I warned about getting into the top tier movie and television trackers? Well now they have to literally upload 500 GB of shit and like 500 uploads on an insanely hard tracker to even have a chance of getting in to the trackers that they want. At all!

So if you want courses, etc. Mark my words you want to get into cgpeers early before they pull the invite thread on myanonamouse. 6 months is not a very long time and you don't want to be wait and sit and wait only for them to pull the invite thread forever and plant it on that same insane tracker with no bonus points at all.

Say you get into one of these alleged HUGE discords and they get shutdown or the person with the cgpeers account decides to stop sharing the courses. Or they don't share what you want. Then you won't be able to get them. Apparently the admin is an art director and people who work in the industry often run questions etc. It's a legal group buy site with some forum downloading capabilities, you can get some free currency to get courses there that you can't get elsewhere, but you also can't reupload the stuff from their megas or you'll get banned, but mostly you get currency via participating in group buys. This you should only keep your eyes peeled for if you are in the industry or have a lot of cash to burn on super specialist courses at discounts (and some free downloading on the side)

That's not true. Discord's actually pay for the courses through group buys so they have no incentive of uploading their courses to cgpeers due to
- the (very small) possibility of the pirated materials being traced back to an account with a real credit card attached.
- they use courses that aren't on cgpeers as currency to trade for other courses that arent on cgpeers
- they usually have no interest in sharing stuff on cgpeers once they pay for something. its rare to find someone that feels compelled to share for no return.

I'm talking about courses that are between 100 - 1000 euro like Watts Atelier new streaming courses, CGMA courses or gumroads that have 50 videos that are 20 dollars each where group buy is basically required.

One simple example of cgpeers not having everything is that the Will Weston composition course isnt even in the 2TB mega above but was shared in a discord group months ago.

Are you sure they're not uploading the courses from *****.****? From what I've heard, this secret club 2 has a licensing agreement with some providers like Eaton and some demand that they specifically watermark the courses to ensure that no group buy member is leaking to pirate sites and they ban everyone who finds out. However, since it's also partly a dl site, you can also feasibly get the courses without buying them by participating in site events. Plus, they use mega as their filehost.

Because you know, with mega you either have to upload all that shit.

Or you do what I used to do for folks on /a/ and /ic/. I torrent the torrent to my linux server. I use a commandline megasync or gdrive tool to sync the course with mega or gdrive. No one's uploading a course that enormous by hand.

Or they got it off an existing mega, most likely the industry secret site.

Additionally, a lot of chinese forums share english resources, via special convoluted means. Also on tieba or in secret qq/wechat groups which I unfortunately can't even access.

the reason I say this also is because one person on cgp actually had major difficulty ripping courses from stuff like gnomon and artstation learning because they've upgraded their security. They showed me their window and it was all 0kb blobs from their side whereas *****.**** has pretty much every course even the ones that are supposedly classed as impossible to rip. And all of those were not on cgp.

people there having actual industry experience directly implies a few advantages:
-the group is small and mutual trust is higher
-professional and productive communication
-the group structure and leadership is well-organized
-consists of mostly mentally stable people that is well-integrated in society, which means there won't be many unnecessary drama or spergouts which leads to the group dissolving
-members have a decent amount of disposable income to spare

You can go through the pdfs he made for his courses to see the exact books he recommends.
