Please, tell me what knowledge is required to draw something similar.
To me this is perfection, this is art, this is what inspires me and millions of people.
I look at this image and become jealous, I want to achieve the same level of skill.

or worse not even trying to visualize a thing and drawing random shit then calling it finished because it looks kind of like something but not really and that's supposed to be cool or evocative something

Have you tried it? It's not as nearly lazy as you say it is when it looks good. When everything is hyper detailed too the focal point gets fucked.
