Observation and repetition is better. Vilppu and Hampton are good supplements though.

>> No.4949242

My advice would be to watch Michael Hampton videos and read vilppu’s book.

I learned just by looking at things and drawing them. Never opened a book or watched a video. You can find my work in the Sistine Chapel.

Unironically there are people who learn from just drawing from references like pinterest. You ask what the fuck did they study and they just say they learned from references and didn't study any books

How about drawing people and body parts you’re interested in, from photo ref. This is how a lot of people get good too, and it’s a better vehicle for satisfying your innate curiosity instead of looking at instructor’s abstractions of the body for a lot of people.

Well... That's most of the people? /ic/ is a hub for depressed people that think the only way to learn is from books, meanwhile the talentchad is learning from life drawing and doesn't even know 4chan exists

It's not really an either/or proposition. Vilppu and Hampton just teach you what and how to observe when you draw on your own.
