Do I sacrifice my blood sweat and COOM to learn this book (How to Draw by Scott Robertson)? Is it really worth it?

I like it

This book is IMPENETRABLE. The artist only need three books: Anatomy for Sculptors, this book and one of Bridgman's books.
Change my mind.

If by impenetrable you mean you can't get through it, you're right.

Do you want to take a deep dive into technical perspective or tech drawing (i.e. mecha, ships etc.)?

If not, probably not, but if so it's a pretty good one.

It's not even close to as hard as people make it out to be, but you need to actually do every technique he shows you and work through the text carefully to actually succeed.

It's worth noting that if you're not going to do that sort of drawing all the time, it's probably good enough to just learn 3 point perspective well enough to draw solids, learn to make perspective grids in photoshop, and maybe use a perspective ruler like the one in Lazynezumi to get things "good enough".

if you want to waste all your time drawing a bunch of pointless lines instead of tracing over an overlay, sure it's great

if you can find it for free, at least check it out. Always be peeping at what other people are making. You don't have to dive into it if you really don't want to. No book is essential. But it's a really good book, and like most books is worth at least a free look.

Hell no, just learn/understand perspective/placement, then learn some 3d software and mock up models and shit and draw over that.
