The artist is Louis Wain. This image and story gets passed around a lot, but the illustrations here aren't dated and probably aren't in chronological order. This children's book by him was published in the mid 1920s, around the same time as when the bottom row of your image were drawn.

Her current art is just poop art that she makes easily daily workout ever leaving her comfort zone, she does it because it has been VERY lucrative for her on the last years, it isn't good by any means, but if you think she's anything less than intermediate you're a brainlet, if you look up her work before becoming a money machine, you'll notice that they were good, and didn't suffered from this trash same-face, she's like that gamedev company that used to be good, but nowadays makes 1 crashgrab game every year, anyone decent dislikes it, but we all wishes we were making as much money so easily.

Now you know the exact cost of becoming a commercially succesful artist. She has it good because at least she isn't forced to cut and pasting photographs like the rest of the trash in concept art. Whether you're drawing bubblegum shit or anime, anyone who is a fan of your art will expect you to produce more of exactly the same thing.

You won't be able to draw what you want. You won't be able to draw it in the style that you want. The portfolio must be structured so the style is consistent and it doesn't look like it was drawn by a dozen different people. If you start experimenting, expect to lose half your audience.

I think you're both right desu. This person probably wasn't practicing in a dedicated way either, maybe they were drawing for 30 minutes per day at most. Doing that without ever touching an art book or receiving any external criticism could easily lead to something like that. They might know that it looks wrong, but have no idea what they need to fix. At the end of the day, at least they could make massive gains in the span of a month if they ever pulled their head out of their ass.

/ic/ is a bottomless pit of narcissistic circlejerking wherein anyone who thinks they have a lick of talent will desperately tear anyone around them down in order to feel slightly better about themselves.

Even in the /beg/ thread, there are a number of extremely talented artists who have been so deluded by this hellscape of a board that they believe that they're nothing but garbage after years of practice. (that is to say that their work would be looked at like it's fucking magic to anyone outside of /ic/-land)

You ask what the standard is for a pro-level artist, but asking that question is missing the point. There are no pro artists to /ic/, and no artist can be skilled enough to get that stamp of approval. Aside from Ruan Jia, but even then you'll have people screeching about how he's actually overrated.

Me... but dont know how much is just procastination and distractions, and how much is stagnation.
I used to draw all the time, copy from books, find tutorials, but my mother pretty much always was like "why you dont study something real".
And had to do an engineer career. it was so hard for me, that I had to focus my time studing and learning stuff instead of drawing.

And now I feel im mediocre on the 2, some times feel the urge to draw again, but when I start, I dislike it, and start to get turn off after a while, and then may pass another year or 2 of doing nothing. and repeat, while stumblig around

left is a drawing I found from Highschool maybe 15 years ago or something (If remember correctly, this are from some hentai manga I saw and loved at the time), right is me trying to start drawing again... 6 days ago. And I hate alot on it.

Don't worry. It's not your job to improve. You don't need to bullrush into making something incredible ASAP. Just take it easy, relax and just try to draw for fun, or if you feel so inclined, draw what you want and try to make it look as awful as possible in deliberate fashion to loosen up. The most important part about drawing is that you enjoy it and not burn out.

Whenever incels get some girls that somehow offers herself, they'll respond by finding ways to refuse the offer, by calling her a whore and so on. Basically the girl is never good enough. Well for a start if you care about improving you'll notice you don't before you spend 10 years drawing. You might not know exactly what's wrong, but you'll notice that your art isn't as good as you try to make it and you can't figure out why.

Also people here post extreme examples. You don't know the personality behind the art. They might draw once every 3 months. They might have mental issues that limit their abilities (low IQ, autism...). They might have a shit personality that prevents them from improving (like some of the crabs around here). They might not spend more than 20 minutes on a drawing because they have a shit attention span.

You aren't going to fuck up this badly unless you allow it to happen.

By not being delusional. I'm not saying that you'll become a legend or anything but DA is a prime breeding ground for this shit because it lets people mired in an adolescent mindset live in their own little echo chambers. They have their group of friends (equally shitty artists that they've probably known since middle school) that they circlejerk with and if reality dare intrude into their bubble then that's what the block button is for. Seriously; fucking up this hard is something that's either a deliberate choice or borderline mental illness.
