Just wanted to start a discussion about Kim Jung Gi. Post art or discuss

From his online course page
> Kim Jung Gi is an established artist from South Korea whose artwork has attracted international attention. Working from memory, Kim has the rare ability to visualize drawings beforehand, creating incredible illustrations without reference in record time. As an illustrator and influencer, Kim's work, firmly rooted in pop culture, is well loved and admired across the United States.

I know the dude has a massive visual library but I think his technique is a bit mystified. I don’t think he can really visualise his whole drawing perfectly before he draws it. I just think he’s drawn so much he can just sort of start drawing and roll with it on a rough idea of what it’s gonna be.

I’m half way through his short drawing humans course. He literally discusses how he drew box men until he was experienced enough to just draw it complete. I found this quite encouraging and it makes me want to practice being less reliant on construction guidelines. Anyway, post, discuss, love, hate. whatever

Why is his work so boring?

He doesn't. Nobody can do this. He says so in a video.

I like how he’s based.
>doesn’t care about cringe onions western politics
>literally just draws
>smiles while he does it
>”Nooooo you can’t draw naked women but clothed men, that’s sexist!”
>draws them that way anyway because he likes it like that
>sometimes draws coom, sometimes he doesn’t
>literally doesn’t give a fuck, just draws lmao

I don’t think it is, I guess it’s just personal taste. I think it’s really cool. Not saying everyone should be like it at all. It’s just his thing and I like it.

>>4916591
Yeah man I think that’s a major reason he vibes with me. He just doesn’t really give a fuck
>parents have higher expectations
>just draws anyway
>draws cook, or not, draws everything
>draws in interviews
>probably draws while he’s taking a shit
>doesn’t hide his coom sketchbooks. Kids are normal and don’t give a fuck. Gets called a pervert and laughs about it cause his coom is undeniably good

I really envy the ability to knock out finalised drawings. I’d be really interested to see him do several variations of the same character

He said he used to use a lot of underlying pencil sketches before he could draw directly, which is pretty cool. His thing really is something that anyone can develop with time, I think.

I think so too but I do wonder why no one really does in this case. It’s kind of a performance art really. I think it’s because people who go that deep into practicing tend to want. To perfect their drawings. He just seems to draw whatever he wants continually rather than plan a perfect piece. That straight forward approach consistently has led to him working on basically all fundies at once , as in composition, anatomy etc. Is there anyone else that does this sort of thing?

Genuinely curious can he render and paint well too? I've only ever seen line drawings from him

yes he can paint and draw well, to.
Watched once a live-stream, and he right on started with watercolour taking in the shapes and blocked everything in, the lightning and values were very good - it seems like he just practiced too much and developed a very good understanding of drawng and painting.
He once said, while he was in university, he was kicked out cause he did not wanted to do the assigment which the teacher said he needs to do, so they kicked him out - and he wanted to draw comics anyways - he said once, for him it was not the best feeling to sit on a piece for days and days, cause he liked t draw so many things at all... and it seems like.
He is someone who drew so much but not only 1-3 pieces a week but maybe thousend of drawings in a week... he must have done too many gestures.

I've seen watercolors from him and some more accomplished marker pieces. He's good in color, and it's not really surprising that he's got a good grasp of watercolor since he does so much ink wash stuff and the technique is similar.

I don’t think it’s his favourite thing to do but he can do it. He does draw everything with a brush pen so it’s expected he could paint
