I went from doing mediocre lineart to doing mediocre lineart and color, so not much.

Found a drawing from two years ago to the day. I remember doing this, it was for Inktober.
The biggest difference now is I don't struggle as much in drawing the figure. Anatomy isn't difficult anymore. It's just putting in the time and following a proven process. I think my shapes and design have improved.
I used to be more adventurous though. This 2018 Inktober drawing doesn't show it so much but I did several pieces with multiple characters and backgrounds that month. I'm trying to get back to that but it's harder now, now that every character has to go through multiple iterations and involves several studies before I'm really satisfied.

I had Parappa on PS1 and liked it a lot, but the only games I ever played on Dreamcast are Power Stone 2 and a pirated copy of Street Fighter II. Never personally owned a Dreamcast either. Everyone polishes turds at some point. You cant master all aspects simultaneously. You just power through what you can do until you hit the wall. I know they've loosened up the restrictions on nudity but I gave up on Instagram as a viable platform for NSFW art a while back. The cumulative ball ache that is having to compress your images, transfer them to your phone, and figure out a way to upload them to the site whilst navigating their bullshit mandatory aspect-ratioing, only to have it published as an over-compressed, cropped blurry mess just makes it a fucking nightmare to navigate.

honestly cant say my art has improved visually. It's not anymore appealing now then it was when I started.

but at least I can draw what I see in my head now instead of being tied down to a reference, Characters look the same from one pannel to the next instead if completely different, and I dont have to spend all day on a draw I can just do a few sequences in the same amount t of time. Not to mention the colouring I have been working on but not really displayed here too much.

Rough lines show your insecurities, try to work on getting solid, clean figures where you know exactly where the lines are. With studies, it's tempting to make rougher sketches and shit, but its really more beneficial to make it as clean as possible. Learn to play by the rules before you break them.

Your art is fairly rough and messy, but you do have an interesting foundation. Shading is your strength, continue to develop the technique and expand on it.

figuring out how much you've improved simply by comparing the best drawings you made each year is a really hard thing to do. Especially because i focused on much different things in 2018 than i do now. Back then i was much more interested in composition and the graphical part of drawing, while now i'm more interested in volume and contour (so i'm basically just doing sketches instead of finished drawings), as i realized how lacking i was in the loomis side of things. Maybe i should try to draw an exact same scene as i did in 2018 to clarify my improvements..
