I've come to realize the endless pursuit of beauty without adherence to ethics is a most shameful, despicably dark craft indeed.

I bought some gold spraypaint from Walmart (being in a king Midas mood) and thought that if I spray painted a wasp gold, it would die instantly and leave me with a preserved trophy of beauty; oh how wrong I was.

After being spraypainted, the poor creature began cleaning itself, and I watched in horror as this beautiful and now blind wasp was desperately trying to save itself with no avail as the paint dries fairly quickly.

After taking a picture, I decided "fuck this cruelty, no art piece is worth this...."

I crushed it to end its suffering, I hope it is in a better place now, its soul returning to the endless samsaric world of ether and spirit.

Fuck, there's a lesson in this. An allegory or something. Regardless, I feel really shitty right about now.

Ok, this is based, but I don’t think insects feel pain to the same degree we do, would’ve been even more based if it worked

Moralists have no place in an art gallery.

if it makes you feel better, insects lack pain receptors

You're supposed to buy the animal dead and preserved already dipshit, you don't just taxidermy an animal while it's still alive.

Sounds a lot to me like you're dictating your own(forced, pretentious) amorality. In other words, I agree, you have no place in an art gallery, moralist.

It's so deep

The moth is a metaphor of the excesses of capitalism, rubbing gold over itself in a futile attempt to save its life, if only the wasp shed its vapid exterior and rejected modernity could it have been saved.

We all learnt something today.

Gold paint is ugly af though. That's why it was suffering.

Beautiful photo even if it is a poor dead wasp now. You know you could have dumped paint thinner or another chemical that washes off paint after the photo. But then it would have been a agonizing slow death if the paint remover was toxic to wasps. Which would have been worse than the instant smoosh of sympathy.

Wow that was a real rollercoaster of emotions. You might feel shitty now but if enough people praised you for this performance you would feel differently. How many people would it take to turn this creatures death from a negative into a positive in your mind? How much praise is a wasps life worth?
