Why the fuck does this nigger want me to draw 250 boxes and 250 cylinders and all this stupid shit. I'd rather drink bleach. Maybe the information he talks about and exercises are helpful but making beginners hate drawing by having them spend a shitload of hours drawing fucking boxes with a pen is terrible. Is there any good reason I or anyone else should draw hundreds of boxes and cylinders in empty space using a pen and paper?

Like seriously though OP how long do you think it takes to do a decent drawing? you literally don’t have it in you to be an artist if you can’t draw boxes for an hour or two. I might draw 250 boxes just to show you how quickly it can be done

How long do you think it takes to draw 12 lines, every single one ghosted through of course, making sure to eyeball the vanishing points and intersections of perspective for each one?
Also multiply that by 250

Post some boxes and we'll tell you if you need to do those challenges.

It's helpful for people to begin drawing volumes instead of shapes. Which is a useful skill to have.

So you can learn and improve the fundamental skill of draftsmanship, i.e. accurately creating 3D objects in perspective. By the end of that you should be able to draw 3D forms in perspective much more easily. Once you have a feel for drawing in 3D you can draw simple stuff like boxes or cylinders directly without sketching or using guides, and from there you can learn to do the same with organic forms like figures, or other more complex objects. Draftsmanship is one of, if not THE most important fundamental drawing skills.

You're not supposed to complete it in one night. I know zoomers are used to the idea of having everything handed to them with a click of a button, but you are ngmi if you can't even be patient and pace yourselves with such a simple task.

>> No.4845891

Every time you draw a human figure you're at least doing 8 boxes, for the 8 parts of the body. Every single thing you draw is put into boxes. 250 isn't a lot.

I completed mine in a week and a half, spending time on it for 30-45 mins doing 10-20 boxes each day. I probably could have completed it way faster but I had to stop my self sometimes to prevent burnout or falling into an "autopilot" mode where I'm just grinding just to complete the exercise instead of actually learning. By the end of it, I definitely have a better understanding of construction and 3D space and everytime I draw a box for my figures, it wasn't so dogshit anymore. Watch a podcast or your favorite youtuber or something while doing these exercises and stop whining faggot

I personally didn’t find any of this helpful. Felt like D’amelio’s suited me better and gave me a better, more reliable sense of depth and volume. Also not being that impressed by the instructor’s work is an issue for me personally; i reckon he’s a great guy and hardworking too, but his work doesn’t do anything for me.

But I’m a /beg/ so tf do I know

Drawabox isn't good at all.

Peter Han books are better. You need to construct stuff instead of just autistically drawing boxes.

I like to steer /beg/s away from DAB so they stay /beg/ and never make it, less competition for me

Dynamic Sketching is only useful when you have an idea of what you want to draw so you can take and “run with” the ideas taught. Otherwise it’s a waste of your time.

don't do them faggot, just be mediocre all your life. imagine that by a miracle of our lord jesus christ you land a job at a manga firm and your lead tells you you have to make 250 buildings, each one has to be in different perspective, what are you going to do? say no? you're fucking fired faggot.

I finished lesson one and the 250 box challenge in around three weeks of daily work. Wasn't that bad, although I have a lot of spare time telecommuting. You just set aside the time and do it.
