what do i do once i can do loomis head

>> No.4787137

i dont think you understand what the point of the loomis head is
all the loomis head teaches is where to put the features of a face in a complex angle

well how do i draw features?

No crabs ever went past loomis head phase.
Hell, they never even started.
It's just a meme trap made just for newbies like you to fall into.

Learn to draw? That might help
Like for real, loomis is all good but you gotta remember WHY you do loomis. The internet is full of tutorials on "how to draw a face", most of them assuming you already know how to shape a head. Do we also need to do the googling for you?

If you have never draw before, and someone asks you to go learn loomis head, you fell for the crab trap.
Loomis is suppose to come after you know how to draw a face.
But your face will look flat and bad without loomis.
This is when you learn how to construct with loomis.
You need the construction to help your flat 2D drawn face to look 3D and help you to draw you heads looking different angle.
You can't go from loomis head to draw faces without learning new stuffs.
It's literally draw the rest of the fucking owl.
Loomis head is the support for you to draw the face on.
If you're done with loomis head, move on, go learn how to draw faces from someone else, you will understand how loomis will help you by then.

loomis is flawed. cranial mass too small, neck too thin jaw too far back, no room for ears

As you study portrait you'll realize that u need to adjust loomis head for accuracy. The cranial mass is nit represented well. But it's good to learn for anime

I'd probably stick to the "big" names, Proko (I think he's pretty god for begs), etc. But you can just search on YT for tutorials. If you're not an absolute brainlet you'll figure what's good and what isn't. People say all kinds of shit but it really depends on you. You might find xy's voice or style annoying and then it won't work for you, even if it's objectively good. So imo the best method is 1) checking out the big names
2) checking out random tutorials (sometimes noname or less known guys have pretty good knowledge and nice tutorials about all sorts of things)
3) watch whatever you're comfortable with, even if /ic crabs claim it's shit. This is 4chan, everything is always shit for anons just for the keks

This looks so wrong lol.

I love how these people are so accurate at drawing the construction but when it comes to the actual drawing. It looks completely off and unaesthetic. The face looks like different people at different angles lol.

I love how this guy is laughing at the drawing not being accurate while in actual drawing he can't even produce anything except shit. Aesthetic doesn't have anything to do with that exercise. Bet u can't even rotate a box freehand

You wasted your time. Loomis only shows you the general sections of the head and it doesn't teach you the planes or anything hence why a lot of noob loomis drawings look flat/unrealistic. You would've been better off learning the different plane changes in the face, how they fit together to form the head and how the features relate to those planes/to each other.

Making a drawing look "aesthetic" is its own skill that needs to be honed after learning how to into construction. You have to learn how to make the construction look "alive".
