I think that the important thing to be concerned about are the 7th - 9th ribs as they are the ones stick out the most and and most prominent landmarks of the ribcage. The only ones in the back that aren't attached to anything are the 11th and 12th ribs, but unless you are drawing an accurate skeleton I don't think it really matters that much?
