What's a good non art job to have that won't physically and mentally exhaust you to the point where you're too tired to draw and pays relatively well to live off of? I want to draw a lot, but I don't to do art as a full time job in the industry because I want to draw what I want, and not whatever shit some corporation tells me

I have a friend who work security night shifts, he usually doesn't have to walk rounds but just sits on a chair and programs on his laptop for the whole shift.

Fucking anything in shifts. You either get 2-2 schedule (2 12h days and 2 days off) or preferably 1-3 schedule (24h work - 3 days off). Imagine having a weekend evry other day, you get off your ass, go slay the dragon of work, lift fuckhuge fucking wheels like a manly man and feel like you just earned a chunk of money in one day. then you get 3 days off to hit gym, fuck whores, go out and draw all you want. You still work a 40 hour week but instead of dripping it 8 hours per day (2h in transit 1h lunch ) and being left with no free time you work one fucking day and go free for three entire days.

my dear, dear friend. there is no such thing. your first job doing unskilled labor will mentally and physically drain you. assuming you don't do retail or fast food - no matter what you are going to be working full time and it will suck dick. There is no such thing as a full time job where you can just come home after work and do whatever - cause ya gotta sleep and ya gotta eat. Best thing you can hope for is to have weekends off.

That's true for 9-5
It's "technically" 8 hours. On practie:
-wake up and do the morning shit 40m-1h
-go to work 1-2h
-work - 8h
-unpaid lunch break - 1h
-go home -1h
-do the evening shit, shower, eat, shit - 2h
That leaves you with no free time, just to sleep.
Tried to work and draw, ended up not sleeping at all for 2 years, i developed a psychosis and my hair fell out, i look like a cancer patient now.

But I was blessed to find an escape, I found a job with 1-3 shifts. I work one entire fucking day and night, and then I go home for three entire days. It's a 40h week but done in big chunks without all the bullshit everyday transit overhead. I have a 3 day weekend every other day. And since i'm a fucking engineer i'm also paid well too. I get money to fuck escorts and the actual time to do it,

Seek shifts dudes. By any means you need the shifts. If what it takes is to fuck off to Alaska and weld the pipes out in the cold- do it. If any of you were in army you can fuck off with the merks fto the fucking nowhere, they have money nd free time up their ass.

Shit dude that sounds great. Thing is - I think OP is like a highschool graduate. Probably doesn't have that many options open yet aside from military. But - honestly, 9 to 5 job can work if you just draw during lunch. My warehouse job, I often meet my quota way before I am supposed to clock out ( like an hour early ) and since I work nightshift, I have no supervisor or co workers, so I just draw. But its very situational desu, and sometimes it just depends on the workload.

dog/house sitting. in general anything where you can work independently or have a lot of downtime. invest in a sketchbook of some kind, i use my 3ds for most of my studies and plein air stuff and it works really well. even with the lowest tier wagie job you should be able to get at least 2-3 hours of studies in every day
>bus ride + time spent waiting for the bus
>unplanned breaks or slow shifts, good for gesture drawing

This, op. Unless you don’t like spooky shit and possibly encounters with ghosts.
A friend of mine also used to work on oil rigs. 30 days on, 30 days off. Six figure job before the oil bust, but I imagine you’re not gonna like oil rig work.

Damn I was having the same question a few minutes ago, what a coincidence. Most will suggest shift work, but do keep in mind that constantly doing night shifts will wear down your body IMMENSELY over time (go look up the time proven research on this)

I'm currently studying for a business degree and aiming to get into some marketing role, hopefully one that is chill and allows me to exercise my creative juices. I thought of diving into that juicy finance field but the jobs always seem so tiring

I JUST WANT TO DRAW DAMNNIT!!!!!

Post pics. Also, why would you destroy yourself for 2 years? What we're you trying to gain from it? It doesn't sound like you're pursuing art/design as a career, so why force yourself to go so hard for 2 years?
