IF YOU ARE A /BEG/INNER IN ART, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice. We should not have to make new threads or post in the /draw/thread with our fundamental exercises.

Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make YOURSELF feel proud.

READ THE STICKY if you're new or need guidance.

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES - try ~1000px, <1.1mb

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

Dumb question but is it generally best for you to find whats suited for you? I watch these videos on how to construct faces and it makes sense but I can't seem to grasp it. Drawing the circle, drawing the chin from the circle, etc. Meanwhile I get better results with a very poorly drawn oval and placing proportion lines for how I want it to be posed, then I just start sketching the shape of the face and get better results than the standard construction process. proportions are off, not too bad but still noticeable. You'd benefit working with a bigger brush while trying to block the planes of the face and proportions beforehand while practicing with limited values (and a hard brush) or using images that don't force you to fixate too much on details. Use a bust or something that is simpler and you won't have to deal with distracting stuff like hair for example.

I recommend doing it however you want, then when you have a face you like try reverse engineering it using construction. That way you have the features you want already in mind and can learn how they work (if they work) in 3D space. Change up your process, sometimes doing construction first and sometimes second, so that the two methods inform and refine each other.

I agree, most advice are given by people like the "head man".
How can you improve your art when people like that are sort of teaching you?
The answer is real simple, read the fucking sticky. There's plenty of useful information there and you can even download the whole Loomis but this is ignored for some reason.
I wish I could've been born in this era where you can easily look for information and my point is, even if the Loomis doesn't appeal to you there's still plenty other options out there for you to learn.
It's real easy to blame /beg/ for your shitty art but if you're not willing to learn, change you ways, look for information on your own and/or grind this craft you'll always be a /beg/

How long have you been at this? What's your secret? Is it talent? Of course it is, for a week I've been making gesture drawings like a machine, one after another, if a method was wrong because of my faults I would quickly change it but my pictures go ignored, silence, they lack the fluidity and motion that you managed to capture, have I been wasting my time? Am I evidence that lack of talent is a thing, why, for the past few days I do nothing but think about drawing, day after day, like a machine stuck on the motions.

among other things its off balanced. notice how in the ref the person is putting all of the weight on right foot? when that happens it goes to the center of gravity and lines up vertically with the head and body.
the right foot in your drawing is forward and makes it look like the person would fall over.
to prevent this from happening try to block out large portions of the drawing 1st so you can catch something like that straight away.

I can't redline, but a lot of places, honestly. Study the anatomy of the individual facial features in regards to how you want to draw them. Like, what do you want to draw? Realism? Anime?
