You can become proficient in a few years, maybe.stop aiming for instant gratification, art will not reward it.

>> No.4699092

What does that mean?

>Emulate Moebius’ hand? Be indistinguishable from him?
Depends on how well you draw atm. Starting from zero? Not likely, even if you dedicated your waking life to it for a year. You wouldn’t really understand what Moebius is doing until later as you grow in skill. It’s like trying to write a novel after just learning how to read.

>Draw “as good” as Moebius
This is Ill defined, but what you might be getting at. Again it depends from where you’re starting. However, after digesting concepts of form, light, color composition, it’s more about design sense which is subjective and hard to measure against others’ aesthetic. You probably wouldn’t draw as well a Moebius in one year though , as he has had an entirely life Of skill and experience to draw from. Pun intended.

>2 hours a day
no you pleb. Two hours a day gets you 730 hours in a year, that's probably less time than you spend doing random shit on the internet in three months.

>>4699098
How many hours then?

Eight hours a day, two hours for travelling and two hours for chores or cooking leaves four hours to draw. Weekend gives you another sixteen hours if you are dedicated, giving you 36 hours a week which is almost as much as you work anyway, and more than twice as much as two hours per day.
But you should start at two hours per day to get used to it.

Do you think Moebius became Moebius in just 1 year doing 2 hours/day practice?

>> No.4699146

>>4699123
36 hours a week for a year would allow one to become Moebius tier?

Fuck, I would try. Although I wouldn't be able to cut the 16 hours on the weekend, due to things to do. I could do 10, maybe. Although I have never worked so long in a piece before. Doubt I could do it. One could try, yes.

>> No.4699160

>>4699146
No, 36 hours a week is what it’d take to see real improvement. Moebius was a fucking old man at the height of his career.
Art is like any skill, where the rewards for practice drop off exponentially. Sure, the basics of moebius's style, that being anatomy, landscape and architecture are all able to be learned within a reasonable timeframe. But the nuances under which he deploys his skills came from years and years of implementation.

no no I didn't mean as good as Moebius

I meant able to emulate his art style to a point where people go "oh, that's in moebius style, right?" even if my art quality isn't as good as his

I just want the general atmosp[here he has

>> No.4699194

>>4699168
I think that’s feasible in a year, stylistic cues aren’t that hard to learn. I suppose it depends on what era of Moebius you’re trying to emulate (heavy hatching, simple lines with pastel palette, etc) but you oughta to be able to pick up on his stylistic tendencies after doing a couple studies of his work and then doing some personal pieces. The hard part is learning the fundamentals like lighting, anatomy, perspective, etc. but if we’re just talking style then you could really just draw a sphere, add the patented moebius hatching and then throw some pastel colors underneath and it would look like something that was inspired by moebius.

I guess this requires talent.

You'd have better chances achieving his skill.

just learn to draw and keep that goal in mind. main things to focus on should be perspective, line quality, composition and color theory.

>> No.4699207

>>4699057
Stop setting arbitrary goals and limitations for yourself, OP. That's the best advice I can give you.
It sounds like you want to break down your development into strict numbers, and are more interested in arriving at the conclusion than understanding the thought, work or effort that went into arriving there in the first place.

This is unhealthy and you will never enjoy art if you approach it with that mindset.
Don't become a soulless reproduction of Moebius. Become a soulful you.

Moebius was technically ridiculous, ligne claire is tough as hell to master if you actually use dead lines and you only have to rely on precision and accurate perspective. Moebius draws circles around most of the prodigies while playing on hard mode.

Idk have you tried just making a master copy or a master style copy? Attempt to copy the entire work without tracing while trying to figure out the tools used and the techniques implemented, or make a style copy where you create a unique piece that's similar to that picture (a dragon instead of a bird, mountains in different positions, maybe add trees, and use a new composition) while also trying to deduce tools and techniques. You'll learn a lot.

when he was on vacation for 9 months in mexicos desert, he took shrooms and he said thats where his psychadelic and creative energy came from and it continued even after he stopped touching any drugs

so not only youd need alot of years to get his full skillset cuz the guy could really to everything, he only diod cartoony shit just cuz it fit the project

but youd also need to have his artistic sensibilities and that is the part no one can replicate unless you live a very similar life, the shrooms thing is the closest to that so anon, go do drugs and draw after

Moebius started drawing professionally in 1961, and the Metal Hurlant days came in the mid 70s. You need at least 20 years of practice to achieve Moebius-like abilities.
