That said, unless there's manga somewhere online that's in public domain I'm not sure it's going to be allowed (required material has to be available legally for free).

I was thinking about something like a year; it gives you 3 days to faithfully copy a single page + some time for rest.

I have some but I have like 20 blank spiral notebooks lying around so unless I'm drawing something serious like for a challenge I'm going to use those up first. Also, using notebooks make it easier to track progress

What does next submission period mean? I have my frequency set to every other day, but I've been submitting every day just because I have the time right now. I see this: "Your streak is safe for now!
Next Submission Period: 00:16:58" and I'm not sure what that means. Does that mean my streak safety countdown STARTS after that timer runs down, or do I need to submit something before the timer runs out? I'm leaning towards the former since I submitted something this morning and nothing changed but I'm new.

Sometimes I wonder if users study and don't post it or something because I'll notice that they got better, but looking through 20 pages of submissions doesn't seem to show me how because hardcore studies seem to be few and far between. A bit discouraging to see after grinding lines and boxes.

I wouldn’t name a specific artist, but a good way to get out of a rut is to attempt something that you fear implicitly. If your first thought is “I can’t do that” or “I have to get better before attempting it” it’s exactly the thing you should do now. Any thing that shakes you will inevitably put you in the sweet spot just outside your current ability. Not too much that you give up, but hard enough that you’re engaged (and hopefully excited)

Yes. Even if your fundies are weak you can still learn painting. I'd recommend you to ask Banana about this. In the case of the podcast, it's a simple community focused activity we're putting together as a way to make DAD a more interesting place.
You could always try something similar with other DADs if you think you could. #DADs-Connexion on the the discord is the place for that.

Welcome again lad! I think you're at a good start with practice, even though you're clearly just starting out. I saw you mentioned that you had a construction layer underneath and were doing lineart on top. I feel like what you should be focusing on right now more is construction, I wouldn't be too worried about lineart and having beautiful clean lines yet. While the construction layer is actually hidden, if you look at the art from a certain angle you can see it underneath. (At least on my laptop screen) and things there seem to be quite squished. Don't forget that the central line on a constructed head is the brow line and not where the middle of the nose rests! Try and spend a bit more time measuring things when you're starting off and don't forget to compare sizes to other things you've already drawn. Looking at your reference and your drawing things seem to be much shorter than they should be. Have you tried starting with slightly less complex things, like an orange or say a small box? Putting two-three small objects next to you and trying to draw them might be a bit easier at this stage, faces are quite hard to get write when you're just starting out! I'm so happy to see you've joined us. I'm sure you'll see improvement fast if you keep this up!

Oh, thanks for responding. I figured because what I did for a bit was copy some diagrams I had to retain the idea of construction as I would forget a week later or it becomes rusty. But after a 2 hours session of nothing but constructing my brain is wired again to the construction ideas.
