Why do literally all 2010s+ comics look so fucking bland to me? Are there modern comics/artists that are as good as Todd McFarlane, Jim Lee or Mike Mignola or titles with interesting art like Sin City or Watchmen?

Todd macfarlane is good at drawing. It’s his designs that are inconsistent.

It's funny you cite these two as 'good.' After the 90s they were emblematic of an era of bad American comic art (Rob Liefeld considered the worse).
You would have to go back much further to find the really good stuff: Mike Ploog (attached), Jack Kirby, Wallace Wood, Bernie Wrightson, etc.

seems like you're nostalgic. I feel the same about european comics from the 70s and 80s. If you're unhappy about the current styles, pick up from where it went wrong and make it right. see where it brings you and redefine the industry.
at least that's what I am doing.

Everything becames bland when it becomes minstream. That's why anime lost it's spark too, it used to adapt more weird stuff like kodomo no jikan in the 00's but now it's just isekai garbage and shonen.

Yeah, the difference is European comics from the 70s and 80s were actually good, it's more than nostalgia. I love American comics from the 50s-70s, even though I never lived through that period.
My youth was during the time OP is referencing, and while seeing 90s McFarlane might induce a little nostalgia, I know it was far from a high point in art.

no, because college artists aka the only artist that can break into the commercial industry of comics learn zero about dynamic lights, perspective or basic fundies but instead are half the time being taught to be writers and the other showing way to minimsiing time on a sketch

Only Liefeld. While McFarlane was emblematic of the "era" in so far as Image was the focal point of the artists' rights movement, he was always considered a top-tier artist, which is why Image was considered such a big deal in the first place. Don't forget that Jim Lee is also one of the top names from the 90s and co-founded Image with Todd.

While McFarlane's work has a certain charm, I remember him being mocked for his wonky poses and impossible capes even in the 90s.

Jim Lee's work has gotten better with age, his Batman stuff is really good. Marc Silvestri is an artist from that era that is respected even by people who like more classic stuff.

Mc Farlane is better than both imo. People tend to forget that Lee and Liefeld were not far away from each other in those years. Lee got better because he's more responsible when it comes to his art. Mc Farlane does more iconic stuff though, which puts him above the others for me. His style might look "weird" but the iconic factor is something i enjoy much more than technically "good" drawings.

A lot of people make a big deal about these artists, but I just really don't see. They are good, don't get me wrong, it's just that I don't see the hype? Especially with Mignola or 90s Jim Lee.

I do appreciate many of the artists now. I do like people are trying more things.
